Generation breeding questions

Hey y'all. I have a couple questions. I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to having several generations of animals. So, on this account, I got sidetracked and missed breedings of my generation 2 aussies. I got 1 retirement breeding out of the highest pointed pair I had from gen 2. So now I have 1 female that is left from the original line. 1. If I breed her with another dog (from someone else's lines,) will the pup still be considered 4th generation? 2. When I get that pup, I'll need to buy a few more store pairs to get back rolling into the next generations, those stores will be considered 1st generations. If I breed them to the 4th gen pup, will that next pup be a 5th generation or a 2nd generation? Thanks for your help. Also, if anyone has a male Aussie over 1mill pts, let me know! I need to breed my female on the 28th I think? |

I'm FAIRLY sure that she would be generation 4. (I've bred a 5th generation and a 2nd generation and I have a 6th generation loaf). That's my logic anyway. ... SO, even breeding to stores, I believe that she would then be a 5th generation. I do a lot of store breedings into my lines! I hope that makes sense. My logic isn't aaaaaalways straight forward. |

The generation on the animal always comes from the highest parents. So 6th gen bred to a 1st gen = 7th gen 10th gen bred to a 12th gen = 13th gen No matter what the crossing of lines is, the offspring always takes from the highest. :) |
