Graphics for Real Money

Okay so this is an idea that I've had for a while.

It would be great for artists to sell graphics or layouts for real money (either customs or premades) and some percentage of the money goes to HP. Maybe 20-30%?

This would also be a great way for sam to make money to afford more upgrades (and also a larger income :P)

What do you all think? :D

I think the seller should be upgraded and have a certain "license" to do so. Maybe have it separate from the current graphic auction, as I think that should definitely stay. Otherwise, I think it could work!

I dunno, people still get scammed with the graphic auctions, usually sellers not coming through and delivering the image. Its annoying, but it's easy to refund game money. If this happened with real money, people are still going to expect Sam to refund them, and she'll have to if it's through an official HP system. If I offer a graphic for 15$ USD, get paid and then disappear off the planet, the player is gonna want their money back, so Sam's going to have to shell out 15$.If it works the other way, graphic given then money, the buyer can do the same thing and disappear and the seller is going to be looking to Sam to pay them for the money they didn't receive.

If it's a custom graphic maybe the image could be put in escrow for a mod or admin to review it and then to authorize the money to go through.

While it could be risky, personally I like this idea and I support the whole escrow idea as well as a license.

"There is a wide, yawning black infinity. In every direction, the extension is endless; the sensation of depth is overwhelming. And the darkness is immortal. Where light exists, it is pure, blazing, fierce; but light exists almost nowhere, and the blackness itself is also pure and blazing and fierce."

yeah the escrow idea could work where a mod reviews it. and maybe you have to purchase a license to do this on hp for let's say, 100 mill hpd? that would also help keep money out of circulation.

If anything went wrong, Sam would be liable. There's a reason there's a rule for selling nothing for real money.I'm about 99.9% sure this will be a no-go with Sam.

I don't think this would be a good idea, honestly. I wouldn't want to pay real money for graphics, as I can't afford it. HPD is easy to come by; real money, not so much.

Seems too risky. Adranth is right, if something were to go wrong, it's all on Sam.

With the licence we would have to accept a clause that you are joining into something that is up to your own responsibility and hp, sam or no other players are liable for any loss of money, theft etc? It is up to the person itself. Sort of like a contract, there are always risks, but the contract outlines who and what can happen in the event of something. And loads of people on here will pay good money, so thats quite a lot of profit for sam.I don't know, well just have to wait for her to respond haha

I don't like this at all.I have a tough time spending real money to do upgrades and things like that.I think it would be too much to ask of players if artists sold things for real money. Then, the players with lots of money in their piggy banks will have great graphics and the younger players who still need their parents to pay for upgrades and game stuff would be screwed. This is basically done, but I had to get my say in anyways xD.

While I can see why it may be popular with players, it's something I'm going to say definitely not to.For several reasons:1. A large majority of the players on the game are under the age of 18 and while I'm not a lawyer so I can't say for sure, I imagine there are some laws regarding that.2. It would create a giant tax headache for the game's income, as well as possibly for players. We might even have to go so far as to report any income that players were to make on the game if it was over a certain amount, which would be incredibly hard to do.3. It would leave us open to tons more liabilities than I am willing to take on if something were to happen or someone were to get scammed somehow, etc.4. With real life money involved, depending on how the system worked could mean that we would have to store personal information and credit card numbers which would not only require us to follow and adhere to a whole new set of laws, it could also open us up to the possibility of hackers coming after us (and the legal liabilities that that involves). There's a reason that not very many games do this. The only one I can think of is an MMO, Diablo III, and Blizzard is a much, much bigger company than we are. Plus, if I recall correctly, they've had some controversy over us. If something were to happen, one big lawsuit over a hacking, could be enough to put HP out of business, whereas a company like Blizzard Entertainment would be fine. It's just absolutely not a risk I'm willing to take, sorry.

I suggest that if anyone wants to earn real money.. do something through deviantART. They're set up for that and it happens all the time on there. Just have the graphic prepared to be used on HP. :)

I am not sure if this has already been stated but could you imagine the fights involved (because it is RLD) if the player buying the graphic doesn't like the image and the creator refuses to spend any more time on it? I am against this, it wouldn't be worth the hassle. Plus most people would only sell their graphics for RLD as that has more 'value' than HPD. As stated by others if you want to pay RLD for graphics then head to Deviant Art.

I agree with Blackfire, WAY too much risky business and feuds would start over this and this would mean way to much stress and extra work for the mods to keep up with.
