Private Show Invite

I looked briefly so hopefully this hasn't been suggested before, but would adding an "Invite to Private Show" be something that anyone is interested in? When making the show you could enter the player ID(s) and # of spots or something and they would be automatically accepted in and able to enter once they've logged in and clicked 'accept invite'.

Maybe there is a payment option too, like "Invite Player 17644 to private horse show for $3,000,000 with unlimited spots" or "Invite Player 17644 to private horse show for $900,000 with 3 entries"

It wouldn't have to be required for people that would rather not have to do that -- but I think it might help with timing not matching up for people creating a show, then waiting for the person applying and paying, being accepted, and entering before it runs. Just an idea!

I think this could potentially work, but the problem is that it would be too hard to specify a number of spots to one player and then have the game check if they've used them, etc. I think it might work better as inviting the animals themselves in, but in that case, it wouldn't really be much easier than it already is.

When selling spots, maybe the player can get X amount of "contracts" with a unique ID, each allowing a dropdown from which they can select which animal to sign up for that spot? Can also make contracts recurring, one time only, or until such or such date.

While this is a neat idea, and coming from someone who uses something like 700 spots a week, I'm not sure I really would want to see it implemented.

I have 30 private shows, I only sell a couple of spots in my dog shows, but either way this creates more work on the show provider and less work on the person entering the animals who are getting the points. To me, it just comes off as a way to make private shows easier on the people entering them who are gaining the points, and harder on the people creating the shows. I, for one, would definitely end up charging at least double what I'm chargig now for the hassle, and honestly would probably not bother using my shows at all if I had to invite myself every time I made a show.

It would be tricky if you had to invite each animal individually. I know when some of my dogs aren't at training age I'll throw in a random set of dogs for those two weeks.

I really like Bayard's reoccuring contract idea, but I do see how when you have 700 spots or 30 shows this would be a pain!

This idea doesn't much apply to me either way, but way I could see it work is for example like this:

Like the bulk feeder, you can hire an assistant to help manage your shows. This bonus allows you to specify what day you want shows to run, and it automatically makes them on Sunday after the cron resets shows.

Private shows get an additional checkbox, manual accept/reject using the current system, or automated contracts.

If the shows is contract-based, its page gets a sale box much like animals do. Owners can decide how many spots are for sale, and either specify a set price, or allow bids.

If a person buys, or wins the bid on, a contract, this becomes a dropdown box on the show page where they can select which animal to enter. Or maybe even on the Edit Profile page? Never used that list, so not sure which would be more convenient.

Maybe a tie-in with the enter all button as well? Enter all contracts?

It would still allow control every step of the way, or allow to maintain the current system, but it also can be more streamlined and automated as well.

👋👋👋👋👋

I'm a private show assistant.  I make shows on Sundays for other players and accept them whatever day they ask. Please don't take my job and give it to a script.

What about if instead when we requested the spots - when the animals are accepted they are automatically entered if they have enough energy ?

Lorelei, that suggestion has been brought up before but  if I remember a lot of players thought that would make private shows too easy and take out a lot of the effort that goes into entering them and therefore creating higher pointed animals.

The other problem with having the animals automatically entered, is that then it would be extremely difficult for an admin to remove your animal from the show if you accidentally enter the wrong animal. It's not easy for us to do, but it's especially not easy for us to do it in time for you to correct things before the shows run. You'd be surprised how often people already request for the wrong animal and don't notice until after they've entered, so that number would only go up if people didn't have the chance to catch it before entering too.
