I'm in the market for a new helmet and I figure someone here probably has a suggestion for me! I currently have a Charles Owen which I love, but its a velvet helmet and it doesn't breathe at all which really sucks for summer. I'm looking for something with good ventilation, but I want something that's got a high safety rating and still looks cute! |

IRH brand! Don't remember the specific type I have off the top of my head but I've always really liked them. Sturdy, stylish, and keeps my head cool! |

I'm a fan of the Ovation schooling helmet. It's light and airy, fits super nice (at least to my head), and it's really nice on the wallet too! |

I am a Troxel lady all the way! They may be a little pricey, but they are worth it! Saved me from several awful accidents that could have led to very serious head injuries! And, after each accident, they replaced each helmet at no cost other than shipping! I love Troxel! :)

If you like Charles Owen but want something ventilated, I've heard good things about their AYR8 (which is like the JR8/GR8 but vented) as well as OneK! I show in a Charles Owen GR8 right now and I totally know your pain for the summer, though it keeps me nice and warm for winter! |

Okay, so I looked at both of our tack stores and neither of them had what I was looking for in my size -cries-. I'll be in St. Louis next weekend though, so maybe I will check out some tack shops there and see what they have! |

I do Eventing and have the One K for dressage and jump in my Charles Owen J3 skull cap. The One K is by far the comfiest helmet I've bought to date and breathes very well. Also has a removable liner so that you can wash them (something I wish my CO had). |

I ride in a OneK Defender helmet. It's comfortable, even with my hair shoved under it, fits well, and it's stylish, and my head doesn't sweat in it! I got it in the Dover basement a year ago or so, and I won't ride in anything else now! |

Following, because i'm in the market for a new helmet also. I have one that Anna (tack shop lady, SUPER nice) gave me when I got Hunter and bought a bunch of stuff from her, but it's really uncomfortable and really doesn't fit me well. I'm prepared to part with some decent cash for a good one, too. My friend actually asked me why I need a helmet, recently. She was like "your horses are so calm and cool, why do you even need one?" and I was just like, they're not robots, accidents can and will still happen, it's not worth the risk. And she complained about how dorky they look and matter-of-fact-ly said she's not wearing one when she rides oliver, and I just bluntly said "you're not getting on my horse without a helmet on" lmao. |

Adonis makes a great point! The One K has amazing vents, I notice I don't sweat in it either and I also ride with my hair tucked up under my helmet. My CO skullcap is like a sweat shop, it only takes 1 ride and I'm drenched in sweat, even in the winter.
I know numerous people who also ride XC in their One K defenders. I'm trying to get as much life out of my CO before I get rid of it but I think after that I'll be just using my One K. They really are super comfy, not horrible price wise, and they added new shapes so now you can get rounded or long if you have weird shaped head. |
