my mutts don't have a theme.

My first line of MFT's have a classical music theme. My second line are named after royal couples. My third are named after Carnival Cruise Line ships. :P

My Palominos have a national park theme

My Aussies are named after ice cream flavors.

My Huskies are named after Caribbean islands.

My BMD's are named after Egyptian pharaohs. 

My Dobermans have an ancient Roman name theme.

My Pintaloosas have more of a normal horse-naming theme. I picked names for the original store and the offspring all have plays of names of their parents.

My Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs are named after candy.

My Flametas are named after the word "fire" in different languages.

My Malamutes have Inuit names.

My Norwegian Fjords are named after towns in Norway.

me brain. xD and just looking at them every day for 15 or 21 weeks at a time helps to cement it in haha. I make lists of some of the future names and type names into the horse/dog search to make sure I don't use a name twice.

Considering I don't have a mass amount of active animals anymore, I'll just go over the themes of my retired lot that I might potientially bring back in the future if I have time for them.

Anatolians - Named after previous horses (& some dogs) that use to exist during my HL days, started with my Viatkas, then added in my Lusitanos and Alpine Mastiffs.

Karelian Bear Dog - Named after Two Steps From Hell songs with some Audiomachine and X-ray Dog.

Border Collies - Different space related words in Japanese.

Maremmas - Italian Cities and Towns.

Maremmanos - Pokemon attacks.

Nez Perce - Codestones and mixing codestone names.

Kerry Bog Pony - Named after my original Kisos from HL, then continued on from where I left off with the future names I had saved for the following generations.

Active Animals:

Newfoundland Pony - Whatever songs are on my itunes that I listen to.

Caucasian Ovcharka - Named after characters, bosses, locations and items from a game called Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

New Forests - named after New Forests in my ponies pedigree (some fun names in there)

Highlands - any God/Goddess

GSDs - Harry Potter themed

Arabian - bit random at the minute

SEAs - named after Diane Palmer characters

ACDs - first set were any name I thought of.  Now they are Scottish words

AQHs - Whisky distillery names

Direwolves - so original haha  - the direwolves from GoT

Welsh ponies - I have a list of ALL horses and ponies I've met/worked with throughout my life and they have started to be named from them

- The Corporate Line - named after business terminology/cultural tropes of stock market and corporate business.
- Old West - named after places and concepts from the Old West era.
- La La Land - named after film and cinema concepts and tropes.

My Oldenburgs aren't currently themed.

My Cleveland Bays all have names that start with the letter "I."

My Pembroke Corgis are all named after pastries or baked goods.

My Cardigan Corgis are named after high school/teenage culture tropes.

Zebracorn- Marvel series characters (currently doing hulk)

icelandic sheepdog- breakfast foods

smooth fox terriers- Greek cities

bardigiano- American ninja warriors

shelties- “100 best hockey players”

 I love themes! Right now I have...

Standard Schnauzers - Harry Potter themed but they also have a smaller theme based on generation. For example, my first gen was Harry Potter spells and my second generation is Harry Potter places (ie: Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, etc)

Scottish Deerhounds - old scottish names

Arabians - I have 3 lines. The first line is named after episodes of 'The 100'. The second line is named after episodes of 'Reign' and the third line is named after episodes of 'Pretty Little Liar.'

Pembroke Corgies - named after essie nail polish colors

British Riding Ponies - Named after items in the marvel universe (ie: Storm Breaker, Night Night Gun, HYDRA, etc.) I never name any animals after characters or people because I don't want to deal with deciding if Thor should be bred to Natasha or Wanda...

French Bulldogs - French names in alphabetical order based on pairing (ie: pair one is Ambroise & Angelique, pair two is Benoit & Brigitte, etc.)

Also, in my lines that are no longer active I have done...

Arabians - every horse had a name that included the word death, dead, die, etc. (ie: Die Trying, Do or Die, etc)

Throroughbreds - Named after European capitals. If the line had continued I would have kept jumping continents each generation.

Shetlands - all names began with 'The' followed by one word. (ie: The Brave, The Cryptic, etc)

West Highland White Terriers - Greek Gods. If this line had continued I would have jumped cultures every generation... so gen two might have been egyptian gods, etc.

Great Danes - flowers, trees and plants

Finnhorses have a lot:

- Amorphis is named after songs from the band

- Amon Amarth and Turmion Kätilöt are also named after songs from those bands

- Suomeksi means ''in Finnish'', so Finnish words, but currently naming them after Finnish trotting horses

- Actually all their dividers are pretty self-explanatory after that lol.

Icelandics are named like real-life ones. I found a list and I go with that.

Friesians are World of Warcraft.

Thoroughbreds are, for the first 2 dividers, named for real life racehorses (Kentucky Derby and Oaks winners, I pair them by year of victory). Then a WoW-themed name generator for the 3rd divider, and then the last is names that mean ''star'' of horses who won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains/Pouliches.

Appaloosas are Five Finger Death Punch songs.

Norwegian Fjords have Old Norse words/names.

Direwolves are GoT and heavy metal songs.

Paints are Criminal Minds episodes.

Clydesdales are Luke Cage episodes (for now).

SEAs are 1) arabic names, 2) Once Upon A Time episodes, 3) based on past generations.

Oldenburgs are 1) past generations, and 2) Into the Badlands episodes.

Karelian Bear Dogs have typical Finnish dog names.

Danish Warmbloods are 1) Viking-themed (like Old Norse), and 2) after horses in the studbook.

Corgis are Mean Girls-themed.

Gypsy Vanners need a theme.

Irish Draughts are named after Irish alcohol (for now).

I'm starting to feel like my theme is boring lol!

Don't feel that way! I've seen plenty of people using like regular people names, and even doing 1st gen = A, 2nd gen = B, and so on. I do that with my KBDs, but I think I might switch soon. I need themes that keep me interested is all.

Jaya, your theme is "A" names, right? My Cleves are "I" names - it's not an uncommon thing to do a certain letter :)

The Miniature Horses - I have decided to name these guys after Disney Movie Characters, This time around since on HL They just had random names.

Sugarbush Drafts - are named after Once Upon a Time Episodes, A show I used to watch till I missed the last couple seasons of it. :/

Friesians - Named after Locations from the Legend of Zelda Game Series, Since yes I am a fan of the Zelda games!

Gypsy Vanners - Named after Episodes of the 1998 Charmed TV Series, another show I watched a while back.

American Cream Drafts - Named After  Characters from The legend of Zelda Skyword Sword currently -since there aren`t a lot of characters on that game I may have to add character names from other zelda games later on.

Black Forest Horses - Named after All Things Harry Potter (currently naming them after the movies)

Chinook`s - Named after Cities and Towns found in New Hampshire, United States (Where the breed originated according to wikipedia)

Arctic Wolves - Named after Towns and Cities found in British Columbia, Canada.

Hanoverians - Named after National parks, though may change to random names on gen 2 and up.

Since I added in Frenchies - those are themed after craft beers/breweries and related terminology. :3

I feel like keeping theme's for my lines helps me stay enthusiastic enough about them to continue training and breeding them lol.

For first string of Catahoulas I didn't really have a theme. Each generation just went in alphabetical order. But for whatever reason I did not start with A lol. My Catahoulas now (I think) are going to be named after songs from some of my favorite artists. Right now they're G-Eazy songs.

My rotties don't have a theme. Just unique names I find online lol.

I don't have a name theme for my Lhasas. I just use cute little names I find on a baby name website. xD
