Horse Market/Auctions

I was just on HMF whining about the market for horses and wondering how to make others interested in others lines when I got this idea. What we usually see is people saying they don't sell horses 'cause there's no interest in them. How could we change this? Basing it on myself, I love buying in to others lines. More fun than buying from the store. But I keep on forgetting to search for foals for sale. What if there was a Horsemarket, or Horseauction just like there's Graphics Auctions? You click a link under Shop where you get to a page with all horses available for sale/bid, showing Name, Points, Age, Breed and Owner. Perhaps divide them in to Foals, Adults and Seniors like the Rankings are divided up. Again, basing it on myself, I know I'm definatly not really looking for graphics, but I keep finding myself looking at graphics for sale 'cause it's easy. It's too easy to forget to actually search for horses for sale each week than to simply click a link. As well as, if you just search horses for sale you're probably searching for a specific breed. In the horse market ALL horses for sale would show depending on their age (and possibly point?) group, it clears the way for a more impulsive buy. :] I don't know, perhaps others wouldn't be interested but I know I would definatly be using the auctions on a daily basis, even just for "window shopping". |

I do like this idea, it would perhaps help to showcase the 'more rare' breeds here on HP. Breeding foxes myself, I had to give them away, when they were actually high pointed and on the young dogs ranking. |

I like this idea as well :).It would get some people's interest since I find myself,too,digging through the graphics auctions when I'm bored...even though I sometimes come out much more poor than when I started xD.I think it would make things much easier and more enjoyable for the buyer,Just another thought,there could also be a showcase section?Where players could put up an animal they're proud of,but don't necessarily want to sell.That could also get interest in breeds.Anyways,I think this would really boost the numbers of breeders in the more rare breeds,but then again,there all a lot of players who won't sell animals from their lines so it could be a little empty... |

I know what you mean Adranth, I was thinking of the same thing when I posted this.The difference would be all the simplicity in it all would make people do it. Hoping noone gets offended now but humans are by nature lazy, meaning if there is a page specifically for selling horses, people would go there as opposed to if they have to put in the effort of actually searching for them.Again, basing this on myself (as I can't really base it on others :P) I love finding well pointed nicely lined horses no matter what breed and I have been known to start new breeds purely based on the fact that I've found nice foals for sale.I don't actively go searching for foals of other breeds though and I barely ever remember to search for Friesians for sale even though I constantly try to widen my breedingstock. Using the Graphic Auction as example again, I know I go in there several times a day just looking to see if there's new auctions going on, even though I'm not really looking for graphics. The whole point of the horsemarket is to make it easier for people to find horses for sale, just to get everyone started with sharing lines.Totally wrote this while watching BBT so it might not make sense, sorry! xD |

Browsing through the search page is actually kinda messy. You have all the people moving animals set at $1 and the layout of the results are a little hard to read if you're just browsing over a couple pages. Plus, you can't search in age ranges so this would be a nice addition even to the search page.

You just have to set it so it only shows animals $1 and up, not a huge deal. :P |

I agree with trig. I hardly ever go to the animals to search for foals because while some people may be selling them, others may be reserved for someone else or they are being moved. I think it would be great because I would know for sure the animal was meant to be for sale to the public. |

I think this would be fairly easy to add in since most of the programming behind it already exists for selling animals and such. |

i like the idea as like some have said i find myself looking at the graphics even though i dont need any. I would use it loads. |

I love this idea too. Like most people said above, i'm totally not a person who uses the searches anymore, unless i'm comparing my animals to the breed and the rankings under 21, but for a general use, the search is just too messy for me.I would totally use this! |

Even if you don't code in a whole new auction mechanic, maybe just the ability to flag a horse as a transfer. A comments section visible from the sale search. A tag system (transfer, reserved, sale, auction, free) I don't know. Link Tree |

I like the idea, just not sure how useful it would be since a lot of people really do not share their lines (sell or breeding). From what I've noticed MANY people's lines are private. I feel like it would be adding something to HP that would never get used, especially when you can just use the horse/dog search and check the box for animals that are for sale. - INA! |

I usually don't share my lines because I don't think it will bring any interest, so I just go about my business. I would definitely put my horses in this if it were to be added. |

Love this idea! For players who generally like window shopping, so's to speak, I think it will definitely increase impulse buys and also boost breed interest. |
