I recently opened my coding services completely but I'm having trouble pricing codes. I don't want them to be to expensive but at the same time I put a lot of time into some of these codes. So I was hoping to get some opinions on how I should price/how much you would pay for my coding.

Right now, I offer four basic styles of code:

Simple Scroll: Examples

Complex Scroll: Examples

Expandable: Examples

Tabbed: Examples

Β

I also offer discounts of 20-50% off for club layouts, orders of 3 or more layouts, and for new players.

I am also interested in this! Right now I'm just doing flat rates of 60 mill for a tabbed layout and 30 mill for an expandable. I'm not sure if people would pay more or if that's pricey.Β I just sold a tabbed layout in the auction for 100 mill? Seems inconsistent from what I've seen, but your codes get much more detailed than mine.

i would say 80-200m for tabs, i think i paid 150? for my codingΒ

i have never ever ever been a fan of expandables but some people are

id say start at 50 for those and move up (or a little less for less complex)

but when it comes down to it, coders are rare and yall can basically charge what you want

*is the one who bought the 100mil layout from Audacia lol* Auction prices can vary depending on how in love with it people are lol. Different styles speak to different people, and images, patterns, and fonts all play a part in whether or not the code will sell well. Audacia's layout had a gorgeously bold font for the name and the bookstore background was just what I needed to put up for my novel writing challenge next month. I was ready to go full gladiator for that code lol.

Since my codes are very in-demand and my time is very limited, my layouts are pricey. I just can't fathom working on custom codes (codes that are brand new, from scratch) right now; under pressure, my creativity flees like Severus Snape confronted with shampoo lol. I only do versions of pre-existing codes. I change the images, colors, and names but the coding stays the same. For those codes, tabs are 200mil and scrolls/expandables are 70mil.

I also encourage payment in upgrades because I can't buy upgrades myself anymore.

For your codes, Aveera - you have a really cute style that I absolutely love. Your colors go well together, and your taste in fonts appeals to me (and maybe a lot of players?) That said, I think you can get away with charging more if you need to. I think honestly whatever you need/want to charge it up to you. Things you should ask yourself when setting prices:

    • How much HPD do you need to make to maintain whatever you need/want to maintain (training, projects, buying auctions, ordering from others)? Or how much HPD do you want to have?
    • Once you know that, how often do you get orders? Are you making enough off your orders at your current prices to maintain that HPD goal? If yes and you feel like you're not selling yourself short, then you don't need to change anything. If you sell a lot of codes but need to make more HPD, you can probably raise your prices a bit.Β
    • How much time do you put into your coding? Things that can be done in an hour or so should be cheaper than a multi-day project.
    • How much would you be willing to pay for your code? If you were ordering your code from someone else, would you pay what you're charging?

Keep in mind that lowering prices does not mean that you'll get more orders. However raising prices can definitely discourage orders, especially if you've already establishedΒ a popular price rangeΒ (or people approach you expecting a price range). Allowing multiple types of payment might help in that regard (like allowing payment in upgrades or tickets or shows, as well as HPD).Β

I'll probably update if I think about more things lol.

Please keep in mind that my advice is just based on my own experience with coding for HP. I'm not a professional web developer or marketing pro lol.

I would love to have a tabbed layout. If you require an image for them, I can provide! Since it's to big for me to upload as an auction piece, I figured, why not have it turned into a layout?!

- Picture in question is on my layout. =3
