I've always wondered...
What breed did you choose to be your "main" breed on here, and why?

I've always loved draught horses for as long as i've known about and loved horses (very young). My first favourite was the Shire Horse. When I was about 13 I found out about HL and originally bred Shire Horses, but I got bored... so went looking for a different draught horse breed. I came across Percherons and after looking up pics and reading about them.. it was LOVE at first sight. They are so big, so beautiful, powerful and strong. Everything I felt a draught horse should be. I must have told my parents I loved Percherons, because my mother did some research to find an RDA for me to ride at (riding for the disabled). Ironically this RDA owned a big black Percheron named Sam. I was told he was a test tube baby? Also that in a previous life he was used as a trick riding horse. Riding him was like riding a big comfy couch, but since i'm so tiny and he was so wide... it was like I was doing the splits lol. 

To cut a long story short, i've never been able to stick to any other breed long term, except maybe Standardbreds and Quarter Horses... but Percherons are my absolute fave. That's why I breed them here.

I just started my new main breed which I'm really excited about. I chose the Xoloitzcuintli dog breed. They are a breed from Mexico and they are completely hairless. I've always been interested in them as I have a family friend who breeds them in real life. I would love to get my own one day!

I struggled to decide between Highland pony and New Forest pony as a main breed and chose NFP. 

I chose those breeds based on my real life ponies.

I chose Appys on here because I was super jealous of a 4-player partnership on HL back in the day that I wished I was a part of. Plus at the time I was riding a slightly crazy Appy named Xerox in lessons, who I loved.

Borzoi because they're my favorite dog breed in real life. There's just something about these goofs that captured my heart and when I realized they were a dieing breed on here I couldn't not start them. I only started them a little while ago (currently working to get to Gen 3), but if all goes well, I've got hopes on being ambassador - baby steps! I would love to own one in rl but they're SO expensive lol

I would love to know who people were on HL really. But I am one of the older players - I started around 1997 - until the big change, not like you young lot!

I absolutely love any and all foxes IRL. When I was considering swapping my main to foxes, fennec foxes were added and the rest is history. They have been my main ever since, were my first time reaching #1 on the all time dog rankings, and my highest generations since I started playing HP! I can't believe some of my lines are already on generation 15... where does the time go?! Though I do need to give so much credit to Jaya for being the most amazing trainer ever. My lines might've died at some point if not for her. ♥

I started Kuvasz when I played Horseland back almost 20 years ago now. When I started HP I continued on!
I started them originally after Delilah from Homeward Bound II ! 😉

I never heard of Kuvasz until I started on here and met Binny and her lines. I always thought dogs (like Delilah from Homeward Bound II) were just different colored Golden Retrievers as there can be differing shades of "yellow" labs. As far as Danes, well, I had just started to breed them on HL when the site closed down, so I decided to continue them over here; my Danish gma had also just passed in April 2018, and I picked them up in Feb 2019. April 2019 was when HL shut down for good. Maned Wolves I originally started in 2016 on here after a recent trip to our local zoo and I thought they were just so cool looking, not to mention long-legged which matches my long-leggedness nicely. But LadyR can attest to my constant flopping around of and on breeds around here. I'm way too competitive to stick with something for very long unless I can have sole dominance over said breed. I really wanted to do MFTs when I started, but felt I couldn't outmatch Pants and her empire.

My first-first breed ever (on HL) was arabians, because I loved them as a small kid of 12-13 years. Then my mom showed me Friesians and I was sold. :D

I have dabbled in other breeds that I have encountered, like my mom used to own a Swedish Warmblood, I moved to Norway so of course I had to breed Norwegian Fjords, I used to ride Icelandics a lot so did them for a few generations, etc... But I can never leave the Friesians behind. :) 

I started greyhounds way back on Horseland due to my dog at the time, Sable. She was part grey and part lab and they didn't have a large representation on HL. I left with the highest pointed greys in the game, which I tried very hard to acheive over there.

When I started here, it was only natural to continue. 

I really love hearing about how people came from HL and kept going with the same breeds... it really is a community thats most of my life old!

It's honestly amazing how many reasons people have!

I chose Gypsy Vanners because I train them at a local barn and they are wonderful horses 😍😍 and Soo pretty!

Not enough stock out there of them though, so creating manila for them is challenging
