Gil-Estel wants to know ...... have you ever read Lord of the Rings? How about watched the movies?

And, the bigger question: which did you prefer?!

For letting him know, you'll receive a small HPD token of appreciation from him! Let him know by noon on Saturday, March 26th.

I've read the books and seen the movies.

To be honest, I prefer the movies. Tolkein's writing style is not my cup of tea. But I admire the books for the classics that they are, and all of the small details that they couldn't fit into the movies.

I've also read the books and seen the movies.

But if I'm being honest, I prefer the movies over the books. I wasn't a huge fan of the writing style; (I guess you could say that I'm a little picky when it comes to the writing style). The books are good for reading and enjoying but I prefer the movies over the books. :)

I've seen all the movies. I've read about half the books...  I think it's pretty easy to tell that I preferred the movies. LMAO

I'm partway into the Two Towers book, and.... it's a struggle. I'm relieved to see I'm not the only one who isn't really a fan of Tolkien's writing style, so I definitely prefer the movies! In fact, this rainy day might be the perfect time for a marathon.

I prefer the movies! I've given the books a couple different tries but I just couldn't commit to them.

I have read as much of Tolkien's work as I can get my hands on, I love his style. However, I absolutely prefer the movies.

Peter Jackson is legendary!

I am an absolute LoTR{Tolkein} nerd.
I've read the boook watched all the movies.
Those are my comfort books.

If they every try to remake the movies I may flip my lid. I am glad they went the way of the Spin-off for the upcoming Amazon series. It won't .. dicredit the movies/books (if it ends up not living up to the potential) but it brings back the nerd-y fandom in me, and I can't wait.

I've not read them but I did go to cinema to see all the movies so I'd have to say the films. I took my younger brother as he was into them and I enjoyed them more than I thought I would.

I have read the books and seen the movies (oh so many many times). I love the books since they have so much more story for some characters (particularly if you take into consideration the histories and other ancillary books), but if forced to choose I would probably pick the movies. They are absolute classics for a reason and should never be messed with!

I love the books because I love envisioning the story how I see it. Also makes it feel more real for me

I've only seen the movies and I actually watched them backwards.

Meaning I watched return of the king then the two towers then the fellowship! Lol
