I've been thinking about this for awhile, but it's still a THOUGHT, not a certainty of any kind. But I wanted to get player opinions on the subject to see if it should ever even be a possibility. If I were to offer ad space on HP, what would you think? Before you answer, keep reading because it's not like most other games in what I would do: I would offer custom space, so a business would have to directly contact us to buy the space, and we wouldn't use google ads or anything that could accidentally send a kid to an inappropriate site. But it would be offered semi-cheaply to members of the game for their own small businesses (since I know so many people have photography, graphic design, or other businesses). And it would only be on pages like http://horsephenomena.com/search.php, or on the search pages. Never in the header of every page or in talk or whatever, so they wouldn't be "in the way". What do you think? It would bring HP some extra income and it would also allow for us to trade ad-space with other small businesses or game-related websites so we could get more exposure for HP. |

I think this idea is fantastic, I definitely support, I can't see anything that would be negative about this at all, so long as it's not "in your face" all the time like you mentioned.. I for one would go exploring into other people's businesses of graphic/website design.... My only thought would be to keep it in general somehow game related... I think it would get annoying if it were for something like I dunno.. an insurance company bought space, or these freaking weight loss ads you see everywhere.. not that they would be interested but that's the first thing that came to mind when I think "annoying" ads. So support, and hopefully keep it more or less game related businesses? |

Yeah, for sure. I figure player businesses (graphic design, other types of art, stock/photography, ETSY stores, etc.), and then other non-directly-competing games, game-related forums and websites, etc. will be who buys our space. |

I may be the only one but i like that hp is ad free....i hate websites with all the ads...they slow my computer down...so i dont support this....plus besides getting players to leave the hp site, how would this benefit "us" as players?! You mentioned that businesses would go through "us" so does that mean we get part of the profit...probably not...so i say keep hp ad free!!!! |

Money brought in from selling advertising space on HP would mean more money for the game and new features. If players don't like the ads (which as Sam said, would only be on selected pages anyway), they can always use an ad-blocker which are free add-ons available in pretty much every browser.Sam said it would be a custom space which means she will be able to monitor what goes there, so they would not be annoying audio ads, inappropriate ads or pop-ups. Plus, being able to trade ad-space with other websites would get HP's name out there more and that can only be good for us.I 100% support this. |

Shae took the words out of my mouth. And it would benefit any players with small businesses because we would offer advertising space at a cut rate to them, so they could advertise their graphic design businesses/commissions on DA, their photography/stock businesses, and/or ETSY stores, etc.I understand that ads can be annoying, but if they're only on search pages or link pages that people spend less than a minute on at a time, are they really that much in the way? They wouldn't move, have noise, or pop up at you when you clicked on a page. |

Really, I don't see it as any worse than visiting a forum thread with everyone's signatures and avatars. Ads on selected pages wouldn't take any more time to load than those do |

I think it's a great idea so long as they don't take too much time to load the ads :) |

Personally I have no issue with it. I would love to see ads for people here on HP and stuff. Ad money will mean more money for new features and such! :D |

I also think this would be a good idea if we can control it the way we're saying here. More money for the site would be cool, as would exposure :) |

I like the idea. Exactly what everyone said above. If it doesn't work out then you can remove them. |

Hey Sam I would like to say thanks for taking the time to ask your players how they feel about things. Its such a shame that other games don't do this. Like HL. |

I agree with azalie. I really hats ads no matter how few. If it says anything about me, I watch netflix instead of Tv to avoid the ads. |

I think this would be a good idea, as long as the ads aren't everywhere. I hate it when that's the case. |

A little late, but I support this. I am excited to see how advertises, and what the extra income will do to HP! :) |

I'm bumping this topic up, because I think if we're going to do it, it could be in the next major update to HP! I'm still really torn about this though, haha. We've never had ads on HP and I don't want to annoy anyone or turn anyone off of the game by having them, but I think it could be good for the game!I figure that there will probably be at least one ad on almost every page except for home pages, chat, and clubs/associations, and they will be in the least obnoxious place possible and of course no pop-up, pop-down, or video ads or ANYTHING like that would ever be added. So, I think I would maybe put four ads in rotation at a time for each size and then sell the space at a fixed rate (maybe $45 for a month?) and then offer it at a discounted rate to active members (or upgraded members?) on the game if they want it for their small businesses, or for anything HP-related (like an off-site forum or help site or something). But I just wanted to get a few opinions about this before I went ahead with it! It would mean more income for the game which would mean we'd have more money for things like updates and advertising and stuff :). And it could also be good for our business owners on the game or even just people who wanted to advertise their commissions or whatever! Also, I wanted to ask, what would you be willing to pay for adspace on HP? |

I don't particularly like the idea, but I can definitely see why you would want to use it to bring in extra money. I wouldn't be willing to spend real life money at all because I have nothing to advertise :) haha |

I think the hard part, at first, would be actually selling ads.But as long as it's not on the pages you've mentioned, I don't mind. |
