i'll start.
one of my fav things to do during christmas is hide ONE person gift inside the tree and make them look for it. one year my brother spent about 20 minute looking for his gift.

last year, i got my dad a fishing pole, and "hid it" as best as i could. he of coure spotted it right away

another weird thing i like to do is wrap everyones gifts in the same wrapping paper, i don't actually lable the gift boxes. so my mom will be one color, brother another color, and so on..

Points to October Fox (#382774), please and thank you! ♥

My favourite is when me, my mom, my sister and step dad all go over to grandma's house and we have a nice christmas dinner together and then we all go into the living room. My sister and I go around and give/hand out presents to whoever's name is listed on the present. Then once everyone has one, we grab one for ourselves to open up and we do that until there are no more presents to give. :)

My favorite one is evey December, we pick a Saturday and we make cookies together, and then decorate them. It's been fun watching my oldest get more into it each year. This year, my youngest will be able to help a lot more, too. We make a huge mess, but it's so much fun.

This year I think we might be starting a new tradition... we have tickets to go on a train with Santa on Saturday. I definitely think this might be something we start doing yearly!

I've made my own little tradition of baking something small each year because I rarely find time to and it's extra comfy during the winter months. For the past few years, I've been on a gingerbread kick! Now that I have some super awesome neighbors, I might deliver some to them this year and spread the cheer. :D

Honestly, it's sad to say... but I've come from a more "broken" family... not everyone gets "along" with each other. Most of the family has moved away... and now on my "husbands" side (divorcing) there isn't much there... so I have proposed to doing my own tradition with my son.

Every year since he was born, I've allowed him to pick any Christmas ornament for that year. He's only two, so I only have two oranaments so far. :3 The first year he picked out a black glass ornament with white snowflakes. This year, he picked out a wooden one that says "Merry Christmas" with like a town silhouette.

It's not much, but it's different... and I enjoy seeing my son happy choosing his ornaments.

My favourite Christmas tradition is a relatively newer one. Since my son was 2 years old, we've been doing a Christmas Eve Box, which is basically a big box with:

Summer Pajamas

Hot Chocolate Packets

Special Decoration to put on the tree

Something Crafty

Some Christmas lollies

Letter from Santa

Christmas Book

Other Cute Things I Find in the Shops

May I please have points here:

We don't actually have any holiday traditions, unless you count always having a ham at dinner. =/ we don't really celebrate the holidays like everyone else. Most of my life it was always painful to have a christmas. I'd like to find a new tradition to do with my husband, but idk what we could even do.

A Gentled Whisper please

We don't actually have any traditions except gathering around and listen to my gpa pray over the family. It's always special. I suppose that is tradition. Each Christmas right now is a blessing to have him there to say the prayer over the family. He's already discussed with my Uncle about how when he's gone he's passing the responsibility on to him. Jeeze...this HP 7th day of Christmas just made me realize how my Paw Paw will one day not be there to say the Christmas prayer, and how important it actually is. =(

My mom, my sisters and I bake/cook over two dozen different Christmas cookies and candies, mostly Taste of Home recipes. We make it all into trays that we take to our places of work and friends' for the holidays.

Me, my father, and my aunt (dad's sister) have made it a tradition to walk the local wildlife refuge to take pictures of the wildlife. This usually happens the morning before or after Christmas day. I don't take pictures, I just go along so I can snowshoe lol

Our christmases have changed a lot over the years as the family has evolved and we've parted ways with or lost people. But - though it isn't particularly 'unusual' - my mum, brother and I always give one another stockings stuffed full of little gifts. Maybe it's standard in other houses, maybe it isn't (bearing in mind that, at 29, I'm the youngest of us!), but it just helps to keep a little of that Christmassy feel that is easy to lose as you grow up.

A good family friend of ours also always hosts a boxing day party, and it's often the one time each year that I get to see many of the people - of varying ages - that I knew growing up. We play stupid games, eat leftovers and drink cocktails. It's had to be cancelled the last 2 years thanks to the dreaded lurgee, so I'm very much looking forward to picking up that particular tradition again.

We let our son unwrap one gift on Christmas eve (it's usually his Christmas pj's from Grandma and Grandpa so he can wear them on Christmas). Then we open our stocking and  everything else on Christmas morning before we go to my husband's family for exchanging gifts with all of them and Christmas dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

I usually do a lot of baking Christmas cookies and give them away. But I probably won't be foing that this year as we haven't been talking to my family all year and my husband's brother doesn't eat any sweets anymore. So there isn't many people to give cookies away to anymore.

Unfortunatly for me, I dont have any christmas tradition.
But I remember when my parents where still alive, We would sit around the tree, the evening of the 24th, having a really nice dinner, and plenty of jummie appetizers. Then we would open the presents that where stacked under the tree. My mom would make a whole christmas village, and the tree would be  big enough to fill up to the ceiling. I loved this and was looking out for it as soon as the seasons would change.  My mom passed away in 2012, and that meant the end of this tradition, because my dad pushed everyone away till he passed away in 2019.

Nowadays I just eat at my best friends house. I call my best friend 'Sister' and her mom I also call 'mom' even though we aren't blood-related family.
We are both 34 years old and we know eachother for like 28 years.

Any points go Here

Our Christmas has definitely changed since all of us have grown up now. All of us, as in all the cousins of my mom's side of the family. It used to be a lot of fun. We were all about the same age group, I'm the second oldest. When we were kids we'd all get together at our grandmas and just get it. We'd have so much fun. Opening presents, comparing presents (swapping presents haha). It isn't like that anymore though. I rarely see any of my cousins anymore, even on holidays. It's nice to see them when I do though.

So our tradition is to go to the Christmas Eve service at church, and then when we were younger, we got to open one gift that night. Now that we're older and can handle our excitement, we open all our presents on Christmas day lol. xD

One of my family's newer traditions is to have a Scandinavian-themed meal for Christmas Eve supper. We have oyster stew (not quite sure if that's actually Scandinavian, but it's what my grandparents used to have on Christmas Eve and it's white and bland like good Nowegian cuisine xD), pickled herring, lefse, Norwegian rice pudding, KRINGLE, and other various assorted goodies.

I don't know how common this is - but we include pets in the gifts on christmas. We wrap them presents and give them stockings. After a year or two, they begin to actually open gifts themselves and will wait their turns and everything. I'm talking dogs AND cats!

As soon as I got L&L's stockings out this year, they were automatically sniffing them, and then went and sat down by the tree XD

Our tradition is to listen to the Italian Christmas song while putting up the Christmas tree - which then gets stuck in my head and it'll be March and I'll be singing the chorus while cursing Steph's name for playing it LOL
