Our tradition going to see the Christmas lights in Windcrest, TX. The whole city gets into the spirit (as they should because it's a contest and the prizes are pretty huge). In fact, last year a house won the TV show Great Christmas Light Fight.

Another recent tradition is us going to SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas for their Christmas celebrations.

My parents and I started a tradition of going to the indy movie theater by where I grew up and seeing a movie and going to dinner Christmas Eve!

My favourite tradition is me and my sister swap Christmas tree Decs.

I buy 2 of a decoration (as does she) and so our trees are similarly unique.  This year I got a disney dumbo for us. Last year was a sparkly unicorn.

Our Christmas tradition is a card game.

It has many names, but my dad calls it Aggravation.

It has nine levels.
Each level has a different goal (Run of 5, and 3 of a kind - you have to have both to lay down).
There are wild cards (jokers and deuces).
Each card has a point value - Aces are 15, deuces are 20, 3-8 are 10, 9-K are 15, and jokers are 25.
You only move on to the next level if you lay down.
The points don't really matter - whoever gets to lay down on level 9 first wins.
You play with multiple decks (number of people divided by 2, usually).
You go around and around, and my grandmother ALWAYS wins.

The game takes hours and hours.
And we eat cookies and have movies playing and sometimes take breaks for snowball fights.
It is the best.
Everybody gets in the mood; people call each other names and swap seats and offer bribes.
It's stupid and fun and annoying and my brother and mom cheat, but I love it.

My family does a secret santa; we draw names around thanksgiving and then we spend the next couple of weeks trying to remember who we had, eventually it's all figured out and we exchange  I call it dysfunctional secret santa, and it's always a "requirement" to keep all the cousins together rather us drifting apart.  It literally happens every year, and none of us learn the lesson of keeping it organized.

When I was a kid, on Christmas Eve, my family and I would go to a town a short drive away where we would do our Christmas shopping, get something to eat in a cafe, finish our shopping, then head home. Bedtime later, then in the morning, my sister would wake me and we would go to the living room where our stuff was sitting waiting.

(little bit of context: I am mom, I have 1x offspring, was able to make a "new" tradition which = awesome)

ANYWAYS. My Christmas tradition with my son is that he can open one present on Christmas Eve which is always a new book. We get cuddled up on the couch in our PJ's and we read it together. As he is only five, his collection of Christmas books is rather limited, but it's fun for me to find the ol' classics and share them with him.

Christmas Eve at my grandmother's. The whole family would gather, we'd do dinner, laugh, drink, and open gifts. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do it at her house anymore because of her progressing dimentia, and we've just sold her house :( Time for a new tradition, I guess!

My favorite Christmas tradition is on Christmas Eve we drive through certain neighborhoods in the city that light the roadways/edges of their properties with tealight jugs/lanterns/bags and Christmas lights. Turn on the Christmas music and it's a very serene and peaceful thing to drive though!

My favorite tradition from the past was when I was working at this one barn (was there for multiple years, sadly not there now), but anywho, if ever we had any snow we'd pick one evening and do a night ride out in the pasture bareback with just the moon light and barn lights off in the distance. Yes it was cold, but having the warmth of your horse and hearing the crunching of the snow beneath them and listening to and seeing your breath and theirs was just so peaceful and calming. When we were done we'd turn the horses out and go back to the barn for some hot cocoa. It was so nice!

A few weeks before Christmas, my family and I, along with my dad's best friend and his family, go cut down a christmas tree. While we're at the tree farm, I always find a small tree and take a "Blitz is taller than a tree" photo because in reality I'm quite short. Then after everyone comes over to our house for dinner and to play either charades or pictionary, girls vs boys.

My family has Scandanavian ancestry, and Santa Lucia is a common tradition where the eldest girl in the family dresses in a white robe and evergreen wreath with candles on her head and brings breakfast to her family on Christmas morning. We celebrated this much more often when all my siblings lived under one roof, still, and my older sister always had the role of St. Lucia. She would wear our plastic, candle-waxified/dripped advent wreath on her head, blond hair in braids, and Mom's old silk and ivory nightgown. It was always a delightful "surprise" to hear her and Mom whispering whilst getting ready in the hallway, and then older sister would alight around the corner saying, "Santa Lucia comes to bring you breakfast!"

My favorite Christmas tradition that we do is a Christmas Eve box. In the box we have new jammies, treats, and a new movie that we watch in our new jammies and enjoy the treats within the box too!
