Kitty Litter help

Hello!! I figured for my first post on the forum I would ask for some advice lol. I grew up on a farm, we always had cats but they were barn cats and only a few lived inside and they were definitley not picky with their litter. About a year ago I got a kitten, his name is Sampson and he is a great cat. Playful, cute, smart, and is super spoiled. He is an indoor cat but we have built a large catio with shelves and ramps and hammocks with a cat door in one of our windows so he has free range all day but he does not go to the bathroom out there as there is a solid floor and not grass. He grew up with our three German Short Haired Pointers so he acts more like a dog than a cat however he has one vice.... he is SOOOO picky with his litter. I have tried probably ten different litters types, four litter pans, and we finally found a set up he likes. HOWEVER, if i do not scoop the litter 4 times a day ( I'm talking if there is one pile of poop he will not use it) he will meow until you scoop his litter and if you are not fast enough he will attempt to poop on the floor in front you you to show his distaste. I have also tried multiple litters, it doesn't really help because then I am just scooping TWO boxes four times a day. In conclusion, I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions or experience with the automatic self scooping litters. I know they're newer and kind of expensive but I'm willing to pay the price to not have Sampson so stressed over his litter. At work we have an office cat and she has the Litter Robot by Whisker and we all hate it. It always glitches, doesn't cycle correctly (we've had two of them with the same issue) and because of the open design the litter ends up everywhere. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know! I appreciate your time. |

I don't have cats but I've heard great things about the automatic litter boxes. I know a few people that have them and love them to death. One of my girlfriends even has an app on her phone that she can review the data it collects. So I would say 10/10 recommend xD |

I scoop my box 3-6 times a day depending on how often they go. It's in my office so sometimes I scoop it as soon as they go if it stinks (ya know, when they bomb the crap out of it lol). We are currently using Tidy Cats - Multiple Cats litter and a standard high sides box/tray thingy, but I plan on switching once I get get some figured out and worked out with life. Our neighbor uses Pretty Litter and we like that it alerts to health issue and the such and she also uses a self cleaning litter box. So I have been researching the crap out of those. In my research and talking to friends the Litter Robot seems to be the best and most common choice, but the price is a bit ... much? So I am looking into alternatives while dreaming of owning a Litter Robot. |
