Congratulations to our May's Player Spotlight Winner!Lost Woods! Lost Woods (#45058), our Warmblood Warrior! ...Community Chatter...These little shout-outs come from various players, not just staff! "Any interaction I have seen from this player has always been kind and friendly." "Jumped right into the community with graphics and warmbloods and it is encouraging to see new players dive right in. Makes us old players feel like we are cultivating something worthwhile." ...Interview Questions...Anyone who wins P.o.t.M. can answer as many or all of the questions as they want or feel comfortable answering! ~...HP Questions...~ 1. How did you first learn about us? Like most players, I played HL, but when that went down the drain, I gravitated to a game similar to this one called SpiffyHorse! I played that for about 8 years and built up an empire of Quarter Horses. Then one day logged in and the game was completely gone! I was devastated! Years passed and then in 2020, during the pandemic, I really craved connection and googled horse sim games and ended up here and I am so grateful I did. 2. What is your favorite thing about HP? The community. The players. They are so welcoming and helpful, and so encouraging. Honestly, after my dad passed away earlier this year, this was one of the first places I went. Iām not even kidding. I knew that I could talk to some friends on here about it and feel a little less alone in my grief. Thatās when it really hit me on how much I truly valued and cherished the people on here. 3. How long have you been playing for? I started in 2019 but Iāve been more actively playing since last summer! 4. How did you come up with your player name? My husband asked me this the other day and he couldnāt seem to follow along, LOL. Iāve always had my player names after my horse Cartier, and often shortening that to Carty. By the time I made my return on here, I had moved to the Pacific Northwest. So, I wanted to brand myself after this beautiful place with the mossy trees, the big mountains, the amazing wildlife ā and so I mulled over a āwoodsyā name. After returning to HP, I discovered that there was a lack of variety of warmbloods on here. I jokingly said aloud, āWhat happened to all the warmbloods? Are they lost in the woods somewhere?ā And then it clicked ā the Lost Woods of Warmbloods, and I came up with this whole creative backstory on how they were, in fact, wild and free and ālostā in the woods. When I told this to my husband he just looked at me funny xD Iāve thought about changing it but I really like how the name looks written out, especially on my layout or graphics! 5. What is your favorite breed of horse or dog to train? Holsteiners are my main line 6. What caused you to pick the breed(s) you train and breed? My real life, childhood heart horse is named Cartier, and he comes from some legendary showjumping lines ā so jumping is in his blood! Iāve owned him since I was 10 and Iām 31 nowā¦ and he is my absolute world. He is the best jumper Iāve ever met ā and loves it with every bit of his big heart. Every Holsteiner Iāve encountered was so good-minded, kind, gentle, and talented. I also am training a variation of Warmbloods as well ā Hanos, Trakehners, Danish Warmbloods, Dutch Warmbloods, and Selle Francais because if I canāt collect horses in real lifeā¦ might as well do it on here! 7. How do you come up with names for your animals? I cycle between: - Biblical stories and heroes, this applies mostly to my main line - Some of my favorite songs, specifically from the EDM genre - Horses Iāve met in RL! 8. What are your current goals on HP? I am trying so hard to get some of my horses on the rankings, especially some of the lesser popular Warmbloods that Iām raising up. Iād also LOVE to have a 200k pointed Holsteiner foal. Iāve already hit my first two million pointed horse, so onto my first three million pointed horse! 9. Do you have a favorite animal? (It can be your own or another playerās you admire!) Kyuubiās āThe Beginningā ā highest pointed Holsty on the game and Iām in love with him! I admire how long Kyuubi has been carrying the Holsteiner line. You can tell sheās devoted a lot of time and effort into getting them in the ranks! Nadhimaās āAtlasā ā she put in so much work and effort into that mare and the horse is absolutely droolworthy! In my opinion, you can always count on a Nad horse being top quality. I am sooo honored to have one of Atlasā foals! I got two Danish Warmbloods from Evan and I LOVE Them. Heās a newer player and he has been on FIREEE with the quality of Danishs heās been training & breeding! (No, he did not sponsor this shoutoutā¦ I just think his horses deserve it!) Songline ā my first 2million pointed Holsteiner (or horse in general!). Sheās retired now but Iām waiting to resurrect her when I can find her the right stud to make a wonder foal! (āThe Beginningāā¦.? JKā¦.Not really, Kyuubiā¦?) 10. Whoās your go-to graphic artist or coder? Are there any services you offer? Graphics ā Tragedy and Eldrea. Coding ā Nadhima I do graphics! Itās my de-stressor. I donāt normally do customs but I will put premades in auctions. If I post multiple on there, then you know Iām stressing in RL and needed the relief xD 11. What is your favorite Site-Wide yearly event? I loved being an observer of the mascot contest! It inspired me so much and kind of showed me the ropes on how to really pour into my horses for maximum yield! 12. What other contests or activities do you usually participate in? I need to be more involved in that, but I do make appearances in forums! And Iām thinking about attempting some layout or graphic contests =) 13. Do you have any training or breeding tips to share? Hmmmā¦ be patient, even when itās hard! With my first batch of store horses, it was SO hard to have restraint to wait until they had maximum points to breed them. But Iām really happy I did! When Songline hit 2million, I was so proud because she was a store horse with 0 points. She was able to produce some awesome foals for me because I waited to breed her! 14. Which seasonal layout art is your favorite? Spring! Just because I love spring so much! 15. If you could change one thing about HP, what would it be and why? When buying a graphic, players a lot of times donāt actually fill out what text they want! Iāve actually never seen anyone do that xD Would it be possible to have a message thread automatically created between the seller and the buyer? I always get so worried that Iām going to miss hunting someone down who bought a graphic and messaging them about it to get their info! Especially when Iām juggling multiple auctions! Oh, alsoā¦ Iām not notified when someone buys one of my horses! Is that a bug? 16. What do you spend most of your time on HP doing? Buying horses I donāt need and training!! Planning when Iām going to breed. And getting SO excited when that week comes! 17. What is your favorite Club? I really like the Bookworms Anonymous club! ~...Real Life & Questions...~ 1. Where are you from? Los Angeles, CA but I currently live in the Pacific Northwest and Iām never leaving š 2. Does your place of residence have any sort of quirky history fact or legend/tradition, and if so, what is it? Iām on the Olympic Peninsula ā not far from Forks, WA (for all you Twilight fans). So we have a lot of tribal land and native Americans out here. Itās amazing. Also, the towns out here are very famous for their early settlers, the railroad passing through, and having so much farmland. Oh! Olympic Medalist Joe Rantz is from my town hereā¦. He was part of the rowing team that the movie āBoys in the Boatā is based on. When the movie came out, our whole town celebrated with showings and festivals. We took a lot of pride in that! 3. What do you do for work? For 3 years I have been juggling up to 8 gigs a week in order to pay the bills and allow me the time to finish my memoir, work on my screenplays, and even make a short film for a national film competition (that we ended up winning!!) So, Iāve essentially been the townās go-to person for feeding/taking care of horses, animals, and gardening needs. Not too bad of a deal ā at least horses and plants donāt talk back xD The sporadic gigs had their stress, but they allowed me more time to work on writing vs a typical 9-5. However, Iāve slowly pulled back on the gigs (thank the good Lord!) and am focusing more on my biography writing / website copyrighting business that Iāve had since 2013 (work at home jobs for the win) and helping out an animal rescue (becauseā¦ therapy) 4. Do you own any horses or dogs? Cartier is my 28 year old childhood heart horse. We grew up together and were champions in the Southern California showjumping circuit until he was taken away in a lawsuit when I was 19. I spent 10 years trying to get him back. I actually found him through a wildfire that burned his barn down ā and released him from a life of neglect and starvation! He probably only had a month left before he starved. By a divine miracle, I was able to finally get him back and he came back to me in terrible condition, and barely able to walk without a major limp. He was also feral.. and if you knew this horseā¦ he was the most social, in your pocket pony at the barn. It took an ENTIRE YEAR for me to earn his trustā¦ and another TWO YEARS to get him sound again! Now, we are jumping again and guess what?! Next month weāll be competing again! In the time I didnāt have him, he just sat and was never ridden or paid attention to. In a way, though, it preserved his body for now! You wouldnāt believe for a second that heās 28! Homeboy squeals and bucks in excitement under saddle ā and he literally attacks the jumps and soars 2 feet over them. He is SO HAPPY again, and just like the horse he used always be. Heās my absolute best friend in this entire world, and I often break down and cry because Iām just so overwhelmed with awe and gratitude. There was a time I never thought Iād see him againā¦ much less own himā¦ much less ride himā¦ much less compete!! Itās a miracle I have himā¦ but even more of a miracle that weāre a riding team againā¦ and I thank God every single day. PS. This is what my memoir is about --- well, itās OUR memoir, really. No worries on spoilersā¦ this isnāt even the tip of the iceberg of our story! 5. Do you have any other types of pets at home? 25 chickens and 15 sheep =) 6. What are your favorite breeds of horse and dog? Horse: Holsteiner Dog: Iām not really sureā¦ the bigger and fluffier the better! 7. Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they? I still ride my horse Cartier! Mo 8. Whatās your favorite color? Rose gold 9. Whatās your favorite Holiday or Month? I donāt celebrate most holidays but favorite month would definitely be June because EVERYTHING is in bloom by then and it is so gorgeous out here! 10. Do you have a favorite vacation spot? If so, what or where is it? I donāt vacation but if I were to pick ā Israel. I went in 2019 and expected it to be likeā¦ stark desert. I was so wrong. It was so beautiful there, the food was incredible, the people were so loving, and the architecture and historical landmarks were just amazing. 11. Do you have any special talents? If so, what are they? Writing, riding, and whining (according to my husband) xD 12. If you could own any breed of horse, what would it be and why? A Holsteiner that is related to my current horse so that when he passes, I have a piece of him still 13. If you could own any breed of dog, what would it be and why? We would really love to have a Blue Heeler because theyāre so loyal, playful, and can help protect and herd our sheep when we need it! 14. If you could meet any celebrity, who would it be and why? Theo Von because he makes me laugh more than anyone else. You cannot predict what heās gonna say next and it would be a fun time in person. I also love his heart and vulnerability and his faith. 15. If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why? Honestly if I could snap my fingers to visit my mom in California, I would! Losing my dad unexpectedly wasā¦ the hardest thing Iāve ever been through, and Iāve been through some hard things. The grief was inexplicable, almost unbearableā¦ you donāt know how its like to lose someone you knew and loved your whole life until it happens. But it also taught me so many lessons and I grew so much emotionally and spiritually. It especially pushed me to stay more in touch with my mom and family, and say way more āI love youāsā than ever before. 16. What would be your dream job? Getting paid to write novels and screenplays full time! Then the rest of my time, just homesteading, living off the land, and being self sufficient =) 17. What would be your dream meal of choice? You ever have an In-N-Out burger animal style with animal style fries?! I MISS IT SO MUCH 18. What is the top thing on your Bucket List? Get my book published Get my dadās screenplay picked up and filmed! (He was passionately working on it before he passed away, so Iām finishing it for him and in his honor) Get my memoirās screenplay adaptation picked up and filmed! Go to a bigger A-circuit show with Cartier again!! (if he wants to, of course!) 19. What talent do you wish you had? I wish I had a better affinity for public speaking and articulation. Iām working on it, but I still stumble over my words and Iād love to expand my vocabulary and be better and more confident in my speech. 20. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Oreo! 21. What is something you fear? Spidersā¦ LOL. 22. Whatās the funniest joke you heard recently? I have no idea why but this is the only joke I can think of and it always makes me smile: What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta! 23. What Meme do you currently relate to? (please provide the pic link) Clicky Here! 24. Any good books or comics that youāve read recently? This is not the typical answerā¦ but my dadās book! He wrote it in 2005. Itās a practical guide to acting on a film set. Iām not an actor by ANY stretch, but I started reading it because I just wanted to āhearā his voice again. And I have been SO surprised at how much Iāve genuinely loved it. Iāve laughed, Iāve cried, and so much of it has been applicable to my life in so many ways. Itās called āActing & Other Flying Lessons: A Practical Guide to Acting on a Film Setā if anyoneās interested. We could send you a free copy! 25. Any good movies or shows youāve seen lately? I watched the Revenant for the first time and that was super good. We re-watched Hell on Wheels on Hulu which is an aaaaamazing historical series if anyoneās looking for one! 26. What is your go-to show to stream? (Via Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc.) Prime actually! 27. If you could transport yourself to any decade of past history, what would it be and why? Take me back to the 90s when life was simpler D: 28. What is your favorite kind of pizza? Veggie 29. If you were an animal, what would you be, and why? What I wouldnāt do to be one of the Bald Eagles I see almost daily! They not only get to fly but have the most amazing view doing it! 30. What is your favorite recipe/dish/food to make? Honestly, we eat so basic and clean which is great because not only is it healthy, but the recipes are sooo simple that I donāt hate cooking as much xD My favorite meal right now is grass fed rib-eye steak with a side of Acorn squash, sprinkled with brown sugar, and then poured over with melted butter.
