July 2024 ~ Pet of the Month!

July's Pet of the Month Spotlight!

Kayla Gayle (#4312) is the caretaker of this void kitty!

* Name of Your Pet: Namira
* Current Age of Your Pet: 2
* What is Their Breed?: Bombay Mix Cat

1. How did your pet come into your life?
When we lost Sherbert to the Rainbow Bridge, my son could not stand to be alone in the house.
He wanted a "void" as he called it, and so, after searching online for a black female cat, we found one at the Animal Defense League. We went to visit, it went well and she came home with us aged 14 months old.

2. Do they have any quirky personality traits or habits?
She still has a lot of feral in her, so she won't stay in your lap or let you pick her up for more then maybe 1-2 minutes.

3. What is your pet's favorite toy or treat?
She loves her spiral tunnel and her ball track. She loves batting those things around.

4. Who is their favorite human in your household?
She divides her time equally, but will only sleep on my bed. I don't think she likes Leon's blanket.

5. What is a special memory that you have with them?
A memory is when I took her for her second vet visit and she escaped from her carrier while I was putting her harness on her. She was still new to us and ran under my car and crawled into it. It was only when I played a video of kittens meowing that she poked her head out and the employee who was helping me was able to grab her. Then another was the first time she actually slept in the bed under the covers. Now she does it regularly.
