I'm talking late 90's, early 00's. Sporks and toasters. Absent. Just Better. Deych. Before shockwave, before any sort of graphics aside from the really, really old ones (some of which are still on their site, which makes me laugh) and when the game was setup through cgi-bin workings...

I miss the community. Before I was a part of the "elite" group, they might not have talked to me much BUT for the most part everyone was friendly. There were always some crazies and trolls, of course. But I would sign onto AIM and immediately get invited to hl chats or auctions. It was pretty fun (at the time). There were always rude people but I think people kept a lot of it to themselves or amongst their little clique instead of bringing everyone down.

I also miss the time I spent at my BFF's house - she was my partner - we'd stay up till all hours of the morning training (before we 'figured it out' as far as scripting) and eat snacks, listen to music, play neopets on the side, write notebooks full of name ideas for horses... hahahaha. Ohhh childhood.

Hahaha! "No JB lines" on almost every TB breeder's list of no-nos. I miss my friends from HL! I can't believe how long ago it was, really. I signed up in '99, which seems like yesterday.

i remember a girl with the name Emma or something with an E that had the best graphics back then! It was EMBLA, i remember she used to have a whole website with tutorials.

THAT WAS THE NAME. I don't know if she was on HP but I remember someone had some in the auctions years ago that they were advertising as Blue Crab style and I asked about it!

I remember Tink! and her graphics. and people giving her crap becaue "all she did" was crop out, blend, and light her images perfectly. like people thought all she did was crop out horses and stick them on backgrounds. spoiler alert: that does not work. everything looks horrible. :(

I remember Just Better! and selling "breed changable!1!!!11" horses. :p Oh, and people making their horses "house plants" and "an old sock" and things haha

I miss the fact that everyone was pretty much on the same playing page. Showing and training was difficult without the "auto miner" to enter all those shows haha! I used to play it at recess at school instead of going outside lol. I remember it when there wasn't even the option to do personalized pictures and layouts and you had to choose a picture from their little group of images. I honestly don't miss it too much though. Even though I was a younger player back then I hated dealing with the other younger players. I had several buy horses and then message me and were like "I'll sell it back to you for $9999999999". I also remember the user-run fanclubs for TV shows and the like that were set up on separate accounts. Those were fun. :3

I loved Tink's pictures, and I still miss them!  I remember a load of house plants.. and a horse named Penny Black, I think?

I kind of missed out on all of that. I was just getting really into HL when they changed everything

I was really young and stupid when I joined. *laughs* I miss life being simple then. It was in 98 I think...

The only thing that's changed is I'm not as young anymore? :P

I would get into a lot of trouble which did result in my account being permanently banned, but that was only after years of being an annoyance. :D

What do I miss? The people, the times..many people I became very close with and will never hear from again, which is hard to accept because it often extended outside of HL itself. One person I became extremely close to, and then they went totally fof the grid which is hard to process. 

I also miss how energectic I was to make graphics and layouts, in thew process of really learning HTML & CSS even though everything I made was a heap of junk lol. Also, nothing really required any form of credit so it was totally a free for all...the madness...

& you could make bogus breeds..someone had a pet spork I think....the roleplaying was rampant all over the chats which was a nuisance to everyone but us trolls that would spam it....It was some good times...

I remember that nasty HL purple.

However, you were pretty cool though if your horse had a pic that blended into that purple.

I had that hex code saved as one of my primary colors on my PSP. o.o

Same with the dogs and HL blue. 

And I remember there were so many unoffical clubs, and you had to be IN to be in those clubs, like "SNOB". 

And I remember my first 100k horse. I just about wept, I was so excited. 

Also, if your were any level of cool, you bred dutch warmbloods...

Getting to be a club prezzi was a HUGE deal, like you really had to wheel 'n deal to win.

I miss just how many PEOPLE were on the site!  There was always competition for clubs and there was always at least 10 people in chat!  And everything was so active!!! 

I loved how big of a deal it was to be prezzi of a club. Like, it was a BIG deal to even TRY and run, let alone win. It was just a huge undertaking, haha. And I remember when you would go and enter all of these shows and how exciting it was to get on the next day and see how many points you got.

I miss the old HL. :( I still play over there, however a LOT of things have changed and it's just not the same. Tinks pictures were awesome and went for millions. lol. I think the one I paid for my GSD was like 100mil, which was a lot to me back then. XD

I definitely do NOT miss that ugly, grey, Arabian looking head clip art that was the default pic for horses... lol

Takinng part in the contest where it was premiums against each other and basics against each other. Lone wolf (with his zillions of 100k animals) won premium and I won basic. With my GSD "Red Versus Blue". That dog and his mate were the start of my once-awesome line. It was then destroyed.

Forgot I posted this but it was hilarious reading through! I wonder how many of us knew each other. I see screencaps of the old login screen every once in awhile and I have to fight the urge to want to login. Many good times were had and sometimes I do miss the simplistic stuff... and the ability to exploit certain features, haha.
