How do you PLAN a Layout?

I've been curious about this for a while and am especially interested in hearing from seasoned coders here. Where or what do you start with? Do you have a personal skeleton code you build on? Do you make sure you have an Image to code around first? Do you sketch things out? I've seen so many creative ways to move page elements around and organize them! |

Idk about anyone else but I have a few different styles of code I use. Depending on what I want it to look like or how someone wants or what the image is I get what ever skeleton I need and adjust from there. ![]() |

I think I'm weird and just extra because I generally can't leave my coding the same for any two layouts. There may be similar elements based on what I'm vibing with at the time but no two are ever really the same. I'll typically start with the image and block things out with tables based on what sizes/shapes I think fit it best. Once I have the general idea, I add in my CSS to style. If you ever catch me actively coding, you'll see a lot of random colored borders that are in place before all the fun styles show up xD Like, I will give one table a red border, another gets a green, ect so I can see where all the pieces are in relation to each other. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I work the same way as Trig. ♥ I rarely use the same coding or style a second time, and my early coding is simply elements blocked out in different colors or borders until the general shape begins to look a way that I'm satisfied with. Then, CSS to make it all look pretty! I love learning and incorporating fresh ideas because it keeps coding interesting for me; doing each one from scratch gives me more time to practice new things, as the time I have to code is already limited. I have sketched a layout design on paper and digitally a few times before coding it, but I wouldn't say this is typically something I bother with. ![]() |

I just use a basic layout format and use the Layout Generator, ![]() I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone. Robin Williams |
