So I collected eggs from my Call Duck hens 31 days ago, and incubated the eggs myself. Only one hatched, so I obsessively took pictures, duh!

I made them more managable for you. LMFAO I have like a 22" screen and I couldn't even see the duckie cuteness without a lot of scrolling...

That is by far the cutest thing I've seen all day! -hugs duck-

SO maybe silly question, but is it common for only one or a few to actually hatch?

I put in 14 eggs but only one hatched because of multiple reasons, but also because Little Bean is a Call Duck. The tiny bill makes it hard for baby to peck out of the egg, which is what killed a nestmate. In the nest the hens help, but I'm a human and am faulted and this was my first hatch ever. If I were to hatch a mallard, 100% would hatch, they've done it for thousands of years. Calls Are just domesticated wimps who wouldn't survive without people XD

Baby Bean is actually sleeping. Its quiet. I've spent the last 2 nights trying to sleep through incessant squealing. Either that or I'm going insane

I LOVE ZOE

My baby will have an ugly stage when her teeny bill is to big for that tiny face, but until then.... -snuggles-

My little Baby Bean died last night. We bought her some chicks for friendship and moved her out of my room but I woke up this morning to dead baby Bean. I don't know what caused it, the chicks couldn't have teamed up on her because she was the BOSS so I dont know. I'll miss my little Bean though :'(

I have more eggs hopefully hatching next week

The major cause would have been fret, i'm sorry to say. Baby birds, especially ducklings, are crazy dependent on their parents (natural or otherwise) for the first few months of their lives, and baby Bean was basically with you 24/7, and then all of a sudden there's a bunch of strangers around and you weren't there and you didn't come back.

Introducing other ducklings was a good idea because she needed to learn how to be a duck with other ducks, but it's a journey that should have taken place over a few weeks at least, with a period of her being left with them every day, starting with just a few minutes, and gradually increasing every day until she is happy in the company of other ducks rather than you.

I'm sorry you lost your baby Bean, she was a total cutie! And I wish you luck with your future hatches!

I checked it out, and it was too high humidity which was totally wack. I've got more eggs in a few days, these will be insanely well cared for
