Thought I would start an offical thread for this baby because I know I'm gonna be posting WAYYYY to many photos of him, haha. So here is an introduction and then, as promised, a bunch of photos!

We were unsure of how Jackson would do in turn out. Where he was was a strict show barn, so not all of the horses are turned out, like in a "completely" free way. They are usually supervised in smaller arenas or worked in the round without a line so they can buck and run and stuff kinda with supervision. He had been turned out before on his own, but not in that big of an area. He did make me a bit nervous. He runs really close to rails and then ran at full speed towards one of the corners and slide to a stop and banged his knee on the rail. he calmed down and figured out where he could safely put his legs and calmed down pretty quick after that. Made me nervous, haha. He hasn't hit any rails or done anything risky since. That's why he's all booted up, just to be safe, haha.

 I gave little Jackson a bath last week and then made my friend hold him for photos, haha. I'm so obsessed with this horse. 

He needs to be in magazines. :D

A few of him in the round. He's so silly. This day he literally jogged out of his pen and up to the round pen (the entire length of the propery basically, like 20 acres) and then when I put him in the round and asked him to trot, he didn't wanna go! He got rid of all his energy on his little jog up. :p

And finally, this is my new favorite photo of him. I wish his mane would get like an inch and a half longer so it would go past his neck enough to be seen from the other side. :p He's close! I'm taking better care of his mane than his previous home (not that they were bad, he just wasn't showing so it wasn't always braided up and stuff) and it will grow a bit.

At our last show, he was a star! We placed 4th in a very competitive class with a very difficult judge. I'm so proud of my boy.
Except my belt buckle came out of its little keeper and was clanging around during our run downs. Thank god Jackson is bomb proof.
Shout out to my mom who may be the worst show photographer ever. She tried though! She completely missed my run down but got like 15 photos of us standing for our hesitate XD
She did get an okay one of our spins though.

Been over a month since I've posted pics :O

I'm updating this again to say that nerd face caste himself last night :| and he's a bit stiff today. He has a small scrap on the bulb of the heel on his front leg. Oh Jackson. why? :(

My friend use to bank all the shavings around the sides so her show horse wouldnt do that in her barn stall...

Haven't updated in a while!
I have kind of big news! On Valentines day this year, Fred, Jackson and I will be moving barns along with the buckskins and my trainer are moving barns! We are going to be moving to Rancho Los Amigos where Jackson was trained/bought from. They bought the property next door and built a new barn and arena and my trainer wanted to jump on the chance to get in while we could. It is a hugggeee property now with a sliding track, arena that is NRHA competition size as well as another that is NRCHA competition size complete with shoot and cattle. -heart eyes emoji- 
What I am most excited about is that the arenas there are not flooded constantly like they are at my current barn. We have not been able to ride for well over 6 weeks due to the rain here, which is kind of insane seeing as all of the other barns in the area are usable. Its just annoying, haha. Not to mention they are not keeping the ground good for reiners or cutters and are maintaining the footing more for jumpers and dressage, which is fine, but it isn't the best for reiners. I'm super excited! I'll post more photos as I get more/as they construct the barn more, but here is what I got now :)

UPDATED 2/18 - We have offically moved barns!
I am now longer at Willow Glen, and the horses/my trainer/me/my buds have moved to Rancho Los Amigos.

RLA is the barn of the trainer who I bought Jackson from. They have great facilities with an awesome sliding track, a work arena, and a full sized cow horse arena complete with a cow shoot and full on ranch trail course. There are also trails that lead directly to border field state park beach. (Maybe one day Jackson and I can ride alongside Trump's wall -major eye roll-) I only mentioned that because in the photos the news was posting with a mock up of what the wall would look like, it was literally of the end of the trail that my barn has hahaha so funny. Best part is...there's already a wall there? Anyway! PONY PHOTOS!

Freddy has been having a harder time adjusting. He is an old man and was set in his ways at the old property, but he's adjusting well. :)



The front of the barn has a private crosstie area just for my trainer and her clients' horses, and i LOVE it. Its so pretty! haha. XD



And finally! One of the horses at this new place is Hank, Jackson's full brother. He is one year younger, so he's 6, and he's doing very well as a ranch trail horse. Its so funny how different and similar they look at the same time. Jackson is a 14.1hh bucksin bubble butt with a longer mane, and Hank is a 15.2hh bay with like no mane :p



I'll get riding photos as soon as this latest storm passes.

Totally didn't see this update! The new barn looks so cool! Jackson still looks so pretty--so does his brother but I don't see the similarity, lol.

Thank you guys! :D I'm really loving it.

Sassafras - I think they look alike! haha. They both have four socks and a blaze (Big Chex foal trademark haha). They both have the same little nose. I'll try to take a photo of them side by side on day. :p

Both are E-/A- too. Chex is bay diluted by one copy of cream, his brother is just bay. I wonder if one of their parents is homozygous for Extension (black) and agouti (bay modifier).

Little bitty update since I'm on spring break and I've had time to see my boys every day. :D
They are both doing great at the new place; they have settled in and I really love the new place. The footing is SO nice in all of the rings.

I need to try to get some riding photos of my sometime this week. But anyway, I just have some silly photos of them I've taken.
It was unseasonbly warm today (mid 80s) even down by the beach, so both of the boys got baths which they were mildly happy about XD

First up, it's wet Freddy! He has to occasionally prove he is in fact a Paint. :p


Next is sleepy little Jackson. Cold mornings, followed by warm afternoons, plus nice bedding in his stall means nap time.



When Jackson actually wakes up, I've been just doing light exercise with him getting him back into shape to maybe show him at the end of the season once school is out. Where he gets tacked up is like four feet from his stall right at the front of the barn and its a super cool set up for photos when all the buckskins are lined up, haha. (No, this is not all of them. Not even half. There are three more buckskins, a dun, and a red dun that we need to someone squeeze into a photo one day to make a true rainbow XD)


Jackson is shedding out and his darker dapples are coming back in and I'm so excited about them :D


And just some cute post bath shots. I wormed him after he was bathed, thus the weird green color on his lips. He had a full on mini breakdown after he was wormed haha. He was on the walker and after I wormed him, he just started whinning and pulling the walker around like a yearling. He's really sensative to smells and I used an apple flavored wormer that I haven't used before which I think that set him off. Sorry dude. He got over it after 10 minutes.

Okay.. is it my eyes or is Freddy a blueish color? He's so beautiful! Of course Jackson is stunning as always ♥
