Thought I would start an offical thread for this baby because I know I'm gonna be posting WAYYYY to many photos of him, haha. So here is an introduction and then, as promised, a bunch of photos!

We were unsure of how Jackson would do in turn out. Where he was was a strict show barn, so not all of the horses are turned out, like in a "completely" free way. They are usually supervised in smaller arenas or worked in the round without a line so they can buck and run and stuff kinda with supervision. He had been turned out before on his own, but not in that big of an area. He did make me a bit nervous. He runs really close to rails and then ran at full speed towards one of the corners and slide to a stop and banged his knee on the rail. he calmed down and figured out where he could safely put his legs and calmed down pretty quick after that. Made me nervous, haha. He hasn't hit any rails or done anything risky since. That's why he's all booted up, just to be safe, haha.

 I gave little Jackson a bath last week and then made my friend hold him for photos, haha. I'm so obsessed with this horse. 

He needs to be in magazines. :D

A few of him in the round. He's so silly. This day he literally jogged out of his pen and up to the round pen (the entire length of the propery basically, like 20 acres) and then when I put him in the round and asked him to trot, he didn't wanna go! He got rid of all his energy on his little jog up. :p

And finally, this is my new favorite photo of him. I wish his mane would get like an inch and a half longer so it would go past his neck enough to be seen from the other side. :p He's close! I'm taking better care of his mane than his previous home (not that they were bad, he just wasn't showing so it wasn't always braided up and stuff) and it will grow a bit.

In other news! Show next weekend. I had to skip my lesson this week because I had eaten deep fried Oreo and deep fried cinnamon apples and felt like I was on deaths doorstep the next day (worth it) but ya know, county fairs are always fun. ;) So next week is two lessons and then riding the dumbest pattern in existence? Like I hate it...

Yeah that does look pretty dumb!!! But yall will excel at it!!!

I have never read a western pattern before but this does sound a little funny.

probably a stupid question, but what does it mean by rider must drop bridle to the judge?

Tera, there is a list of acceptable bits to use in the NRHA. After your pattern, the rider trots over to the judge, dismounts, and takes the bridle off for the judge to see that there is no illegal equipment. The judge also walks around the horse and checks that there is no blood or visible signs of trauma on the horse. You have to trot to the judge to show soundness. It is basically a rule check thing. And if you're ever at a reining show and someone's score is accounced as "no score" instead of "zero", you know some shady stuff went down, like illegal equipment or the horse was bleeding/in pain. Dundundunnnnn

I always get a Giggle out of quarter horses. I thought the Rocky I ride sometimes has a low head set and I feel like I'm gonna just roll of the front. Then I see a quarter.

I haven't updated this in two months. Which is a big deal for me and my picture loving self.

Jackson is doing fantastic. I love him more and more each day and we improve more and more each day. We are very very far from perfect, but we are slowly getting to a point where we aren't embarrassing ourselves.

Here is a photo of one of our stops from my lesson today. He looks amazing. I'm super forward and bleh haha. But at least my right arm doesn't look like a chicken wing and he's in frame :p

Just updating to let you guys know I have offically owned Jackson for one year!!! :D Seems like only a few months ago I met this horse. He has been such a blessing. After I sold Catt I was really really nervous about finding a new horse as I had always just bought a horse from my trainer. However, I recently switched trainers and she did not have anything for sale and so I had to look elsewhere. Luckily, Jackson was found right away and turned out to be more than I could have ever asked for. He ist truly truly a dream horse.

There is some on my DA (xxmemorabilia.deviantart.com) but I don't let stock of him or Freddy be used on HP or HL. But anywhere else is good with me :)

I took out my f2.8 lens and made Mr. Jackson model. It was a success!

He is so handsome. I love this little horse so much!

Jackson (the buckskin one ;)) and I have an open show this Saturday, and an NRHA show next Saturday.
Those will be our last two shows of the year! :(

Which is hilarous as Jackson was awful XD
He may be the only horse ever to do a sliding stop in a western equetition pattern. He kind of turned around cone C, and he was supposed to lope straight to cone D, but it was down center line so his brain said run down and when I sat to get him to slow he went full reiner and slid haha. At least he stopped at cone D. XD
He also has no idea that "lope to jog" is a transition option becuase if you trot in an NRHA pattern you get disqualified so he never ever trots.
Also, did you know that when a judge asks for a turn on the forehand, it is very hard to convince a horse who has spent 3 and ahalf years turning only on the hind end that its okay to be on the forehand. Needless to say, we didn't place in the pattern classes.
