what are our animals worth?

What's the typical HPD to point ratio? How much are my pups worth? I spit out 100k pointed am staff pups and they hardly go for 5mil, yet I see foals going for wayyyy more. Does that have to do with the breed/species or? I feel out of the loop. Any comments/suggestions? |

I think it's just personal preference towards a breed or against a breed that causes players to breed what they do. I myself, will never do any small breed of dogs(poms, chihuahua, etc) because I cannot stand the breeds in rl. I know how hard it is to sell foals/pups an that's why until just recently I kept my lines private. |

I just started not long ago. I went looking for horses for sale to start my own lines with. Unfortunately I couldn't find any. So I had to buy stores. |

What if the amount of store horses you could buy was limited? In one game I play you can only buy a store animal once a week. That would mean bred animals would be the best way to go... |

That is definitely difficult when it comes to rare breeds. It would take forever to start up a farm. |

My idea for worth to me is $100K/10,000 points. Thats my max really. |

Ideally in order to bring the economy down it should be $1000-$2000/1000 points. |

Remove any breeds that don't have an active breeder(s), it might reduce the number of store bought animals. I do like that buying one store animal per week, though if you're lines are still new like mine and you get too many males you need females to go with them, which I usually buy from the store because there aren't many sheltie breeders. That being said, I'm open to any new players showing interest in my shelties, they can just message me and ill help them out. |

[Dogs gain points more quickly in my opinion (since there are less dogs on the game), so the following calculations don't really work for them. Sorry!]$2000 is about the cost of 1000 points gained through public shows only, if you figure that most players set their shows' entry fee to $2000. (I just did a spot check through tonight's public shows, and this is indeed the case.) Essentially, one night of training in 20 public shows will cost you $40k, and your horse will gain around 20k including the default entry points (hopefully more!). Sooo, the cost of training one horse in all publics for 18 weeks is $2.88 million. The horse should retire with ~1.4 million points, +/- a bit depending on how intense you get about training. $2.88m is only the base HPD cost - not factoring in the "cost" of the time you spent training, or the cost of paying someone else to train for you.So! In reference to the above HPD/points ratio.. I think with the current cost of tickets and private shows/spots plus the figures I just mentioned, they are a bit unrealistic. Using those, the highest pointed horse on HP would be worth $160m at most ($16m using the lower ratio) - the cost for two weeks of private show spots. Obviously, a horse that is trained in 100% publics is a different story, but I think a lot of people use at least some private shows. In the end, "worth" is super subjective, as Lolly and others have pointed out already.. I was just trying to throw out a more objective view on the value of points. ^^ Also, I like stores. Not as much as lined animals, sure, but I don't think there's anything wrong with having them, especially when you're first starting out? |

Ok well in order to reduce the dollars to points ratio we would also have to reduce the maximum amount for entry fees on shows. It all must go in balance. But it life you never really get the amount of money from a horse sale that you put into the animal looking after it. |
