Deleting Animals

I was going through the 10 pages of quarter ponies and saw alot on accounts that havent been logged into for YEARS. I thought maybe there could be a mass deletion of the horses on un-used accounts that dont have names and have 0-300k pts. It would clean up the pages... I realize with major breeds it may be hard since there is more than 10 pages...but i just hate seeing 0 ptd horses sitting there! I dont know how hard that would be since someone would have to manually delete them all Or maybe it could be a breed ambassadors job to go through pages...since stud books would usually need to be notified if a horse is deceased and what not... This way an ambassador would actually have to do more for their breed...i know again some breeds have a ton of horses but hey, they chose that breed right?! Lol |

I am on board with the retirement option for sure. There are several Danish Warmbloods that are named, but have 0 points and were never trained. Still more over the age of retirement that are on inactive accounts.

I agree with most of what's been said.. with Blitz and Aza! I am on the fence about who should be the ones to retire or delete the animals. But am curious to see where this all goes :D |

That sounds like a good plan to me, Blitz! And I also agree with breed ambassadors finding them and reporting and then an admin can go through and do the actual retiring. No, I don't believe retired animals show up in searches. They only show up if you click on them through offspring or pedigrees or if you know their exact URL. |

I think I'm ok with the store named no point animals over 20 for now. As for others... I'm sort of on the fence. How low of points do we determine as deletable/retireable? And for me personally I have some low pointed animals on my retirement as kind of a tale of my HP history as well as a reminder not to work with that breed again because I truely had no interest.
So I'm not sure. I like the idea of clearing out the animals, however I wouldn't like loosing some of mine. |

The admins obviously know you are an active player thoug, khal. ;P Aren't we just potentially going to be doing this on accounts where there has not been a recent login for a year? |

im completely for deleting 0pts store named animals regardless of age it forces you to be active and actually name your animal (i have problems with this myself) if it is lined obviously just retire so the info still shows up but doesnt clog searches |

I mean this is what the last 10 pages of aussies look like: http://horsephenomena.com/dogs.php?search=1&name=&animal_id=&brand=&breed=Australian Shepherd&perm_brand=&sale=&sale_price=&sale_toggle=&sale_toggle2=1&stud=&stud_price=&stud_toggle=1&gender=&age=&points=&points_toggle=&order_by=8&page=53
Half of them have names but they all have 0 points. I know that I personally would much rather see a game that has primarily named, actively trained animals, rather then page after page of 0 pointed named or unnamed animal, regardless of how old the animal is. Most people like to keep their very old animals, and those people are the ones who wouldn't have them deleted. but there are some 300 yr old animals whose owners haven't logged in since they were bought and never did anything with them except give them a name..
Edit: And starting to look at some of the more popular breeds, regular Arabs have 130 pages of horses, 31 of those pages are 0 pointed animals.TBs have 434, 32 which have 0 points, Paints 233 pages, 20 with 0 points. ★ Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating★ |

I definitely like everything that's been said, but I worry about how much work that would be for admins? If each of the breed ambassadors is reporting horses for there breed I feel it might get to be a little much. I feel it would be more efficient if each of us could retire the horses of our breed but I also understand how that would be a problem, as there is no way for Sam or others player to know if we are really trust worthy enough to be given that power... And what would happen if one of us started retiring the wrong horses? Could definitely be an issue... Perhaps it would be better to assign this responsibility to just a few select players? So they wouldn't be mods necessarily, more of a clean up crew? Requests could be made to them, and admins wouldn't be overburdened. Just a thought. :-) |

That's an idea, Flair. I like what Maha says as well. It would be a big job for admins to check and see that an animal is lined or not, though. I think it should be retire all or delete all. Retire all might be the better choice. Just thinking out loud, though. |

It could be a lot work, but if breed ambassadors did the first part by sending us a list, we could slowly work through them retiring :). It would have to be an admin who did the retiring since we're the only ones who can access animals without actually being ON the accounts themselves, though, although I appreciate the thought. With what Khal said, I totally agree on not deleting animals people are attached to. I know that has happened to me on other games before where my very first animals got deleted and it made me really sad. So to avoid that it would start as unnamed, over retirement age, 0 pointed, unbred animals on inactive accounts. Tera, you also make a good point about it being better to see a game full of active animals rather than just a lot of them! I hadn't thought about it like that. |

Maybe it could be done one breed a month? That way the admins have 30 days...and maybe the rarer breeds 2 a month? Half of it would be done since ambassadors would have the list already the admins could do a certain amount per day or whatever. |

I am all for this clean up. If retired horses dont show up in Searches EVEN BETTER! But Deleteing 0pts Stores Sounds like heaven to me. Interested in seeing where this goes and I would be willing to assist admins if at all possible. |

We could also start by finding the accounts that haven't been logged into since... 2015? 2014? And go through their animals. Several of the horses of my chosen breed are from accounts that haven't been logged into since 2011-2015. I checked. There aren't many Curlies on the game. I think I have the majority of them actually. Looking at the search page for horses, I pulled up 310 pages of horses with "store" in the name. Of those pages, 258 pages had horses with 10320 points or less. And of those, 245.5 pages contain 0 pointed horses. This covers all breeds. There are 3,917 pages of horses listed for the entire site so we have what... a 6.3% of 0pted horses named "store"? Not bad considering I suppose... Either way, I'm sure there's got to be a way to script something to search out animals or accounts that meet the criteria for deletion/retirement. I imagine the site can be accessed like a huge Excel file. But, I'm just guessing. I know nothing about programming. A bird may love a fish, but where would they live? - Ever After |

Totally ok with this :) think of it as a spring clean up, clearing out the animals that really didnt go anywhere, like just bought and people left? and i also like the idea of also looking at the accounts that have been inactive in over a year :) |

I would also volunteer to help find all those zero-pointed animals and the ones who weren't trained fully and so on. These pixels just take up space. |

But also as someone said way above ,or maybe in another post , HP when you first log on it shows the accounts the number of horses and dogs on the game , if sam starts deleting those it makes HPs numbers go down ! Those number are what make new people wanna join the game ! So if they see low numbers that makes the game look bad in a sorts , if you understand what im saying , now if they retitre them but it still shows on the game thats one thing , but dropping the umber of animals and accounts drops ratings ! |

I agree with a lot of what has been said. To me, personally, I don't look at the number of horses and dogs within the game because I know that that number doesn't reflect the *active* horses and dogs or the active players. When I look at games, I want to see the active numbers. What is actively going on. |

Catt: there are so many trained animals on HP that i dont think deleting the 0ptrs would affect it in anyway... and at the same time if new players were to join and see all the 0ptd horses, theyre gonna wonder why and think all those players quit for some reason.... |
