^{Let me introduce you to Mrs. Pinchy.}

^{YES, she is a freshwater yabbie (or crayfish, as some may call it).} 

^{Mrs. Pinchy is hardcore. At the pet store* I got her from she killed all of her tank mates, ate them and decorated her tank with their shells. She even escaped her own tank, and managed to find her way into one of the fish tanks and ate all the little fish there as well. The pet store was not happy.}

^{She has escaped the tank I keep her in at night twice, and I have woken up to her little feet clicking around  on my tile floors. She has eaten the one other yabbie I had. She sheds her skin/shell every couple of weeks, and eats that too. When she's not feeling particularly cannabilistic, she eats some pellety stuff called 'crab cuisine' and the occaisonal blood worm.}

^{Don't even think about trying to clean the tank with her in it or move her stuff around, she'll nip you and she'll draw blood.}

^{Design help/ideas}

^{Anyway, the tank I keep her in now doesn't really suit her. It's sort of weirdly tropical, and sorta looks like something out of spongebob.}

^{I want something a bit more... dark? scary? tougher? I was thinking some black or white sand and maybe some skulls?}

Sounds like she needs a timeout tank.

They have skulls at most pet stores for tank decor. I think skulls, black and white plants (You can find these pretty easy too) and maybe some glow-in-the-dark ones and RED sand. I think having all black and white decor and red substrate would really pop, if you can find it anyway. If not then black or black/white sand and a couple red decor things to really pop.

I love designing tanks. LMFAO I wish my beardie wasn't so darn big and heavy so I could have more in her viv than just big ol rocks and branches I found outside.

When I had fish, I had tropical fish, so I am no help there! She's pretty :), I like the blue claws!

This is comical to me. Down here in Texas we call them mudbugs, I'm just laughing that people own them as pets AND THAT ONE IS AS BAD AS THIS XDDD

Do a dark swampy theme. Browns and greens and blacks, skulls and treasure things (in ye olden days pirates would hide treasure in the bayous)

I think SHE would really pop in a red/white/black tank too... A swamp would be cool too.

And yeah you need to keep us updated on the antics of Mrs. Pinchy. She sounds like quite the character. Kudos on... rescuing her? I guess? LMFAO

xD fiesty is an understatement. Thanks for the suggestions guys! I like the sound of the red sand like Chao said and I can get that pretty easily, and now that you said it her colours WOULD look great against the red. But a swamp theme would be nice too, maybe it would make her feel more at home and less cranky xD Guess I'll just have to get a bit of both and see what looks best.

Envi, some of the looks she gives me are terrifying - snipping her little claws at me as I walk past her tank. And Duckie, mudbugs sounds far too cute lol. 

That first picture looks so deceptively cute, too.

I like the idea of red sand with black and white decor!! Her cage needs to be super metal to match her personality :p

xD They're a strange pet but apparently becoming quite popular. Hermit crabs are a pretty big thing here at the moment too.

She can be cute sometimes.

I vote she gets her own thread. I personally want frequent updates on the goings on of Mrs. Pinchy. And I also agree with black/white decor with red sand. That will make her look blue colour really pop and be super awesome.

I think I also forgot to mention that my other yabbie that she ate was meant to be Mr. Pinchy. They were meant to have little pinchys. Mrs Pinchy doesn't like arranged marriages.

AWEEEE!!! I had one of these!! His name was Chopper. He was a total jerk, too. He couldn't ever have tankmates because he'd just kill them, and one night he got out and I couldn't find him ANYWHERE. His tank was in the living room and I eventually found him under a pillow about a foot away from my bed. CREEPY! Of all the places he could have gone, he ended up in my room next to my bed lmao! Chopper passed away recently, from old age we suspect. He was like 9.

Aww Shae I'm so sorry to hear about Chopper! 9 Years sounds like he had a good innings though. I like his dark blue colouring. 

He sounds a lot like Mrs Pinchy! I've also found Mrs Pinchy in my bedroom... I wonder if they want to be near us, or are trying to murder us in our sleep? XD

They are suprisingly awesome pets and I agree so easy to care for! Easier than a goldfish in my opinion. 

I dunno goldfish don't escape and murderface everything in sight... LMFAO

These are in the ground around here and are flushed out in heavy rain and the kids in the neighborhood will gather them in a bucket and....... cookem. 

I now now worry about all the myrders that happen in those buckets XD
