Hi all, Mary here. I've been trying to eat right but can't do that when I'm constantly eating and want something quick. (freezer meals!)

I haven't started exercising yet due to having NO energy and being sick. Almost over being sick (sinuses/sorethroat/runnynose)

Taking Iron pills helps me get my energy back so I'm hoping the one I just took will kick in today so I can get the house in better order that it is.

I hate to post my weight because I'm probably the heaviest person on HP :(

I don't want to hit the big 300 and yet I'm so close to that fine line that I'm almost in tears when I weigh. A lot of you know me and digital drawing is a passion of mine. Yet it keeps me in front of the computer for way too long. Lately I have been giving myself a time limit on how long I can be on the computer. It's helped greatly but when I'm not on here, I'm asleep. *cringes*

Nope, I'm jobless right now and should be taking advantage of that fact.

Just got back from taking a road trip with my fiance (trucker) and the way we ate is insane. Even though most of it was Subway sandwiches. We had our rough days eating cold Ravioli. YUCK! So now that I'm back home, I went shopping with my mother to pick out and bring home healthier foods. So far I've done very well. My favorite thing now is Rye bread, a type of lettuce/green, slice of chicken (Tysons), Tomatoes, and some mustard (sandwich). I have like one a day usually in the morning/lunch time.

Later on when I'm hungry, I'll fix a smoothie and that'll last me a few hours. Then for dinner, it's a salad. No food after that unless it's a cheese stick, nuts, fruit, or hot tea (mint..yum!)

And there you have it...me.

*currently nomming on Wasabi Peas*

You got this! Take it one day at a time and if you go off course, don't get frustrated! Just get right back on track.

I'm trying hard with the weight loss too- I find tea has helped me a lot- I have a bunch of different fruity/herbal blends that have no added sugar, so I try one of those when I want something sweet tasting. Best of luck with your goals!!:)

Of course its going to be a bit difficult!I admire the fact that you want to make a change, you are initiating it. THATS AWESOME!If you ever need any motivation just let me know.I also happen to have quite a few cook books with some healthier recipes that I would be willing to share if you are interested (i do not want to type out some recipes just to find out you dont even care lol) AND when you have enough energy to work out, i know a LOT of good work outs.Again, I'm really proud of you for making this decision. It will take a lot of work. You will sweat a lot. You will be a bit hungry. BUT it will be worth it and you will feel better (emotionally, phisically, AND mentally)

Mari - I happened to stumble upon this post today and want to let you know your not alone.

I myself weigh 290.

I used to be 90 pounds lighter not even 2 years ago. And to top it off I used to be the small sibling, now my sister comes home and parades around about the fact that she has lost 20 pounds in 3 months and all she drinks is soda, and eat fast food.I want to let you know that you can do it. Its going to be hard, super hard, but to make ourselves better we have to do it. I think you may inspire me to do something for myself as well. Maybe we can keep each other posted?

Now:

Then:

Ever since I got married we both stopped watching what we eat and got comfortable. We both need to lose about 30-40 pounds to get back to our wedding weight. It's a long hard road but it's do able. I will tell you a few things that I have learned that was really helped me along my weight loss challenge (11 pounds down).⦠Bread. Stop eating it. It's a filler and holds 0 to very little nutritional value. I am a carb-a-holic and it was the hardest thing for me to cut out. Only treat yourself to it every once and awhile. Don't make it an every day thing.⦠Water. That's all you should be drinking. If you need caffeine supplement with unsweetened coffee or green tea.⦠Eat every 2 hours. Not full meals, but snack. You don't want your metabolism to go into starvation mode and hoard calories faster than a crazy cat lady does cats! Your meal plan should be similar to this:8:00 - Breakfast10:00 - Snack (yogurt, fruit, etc)12:00 - Lunch2:00 - Snack (nuts, fruit, carrots, celery, etc)4:00 - 3rd Snack or Dinner6:00 - Dinner or 3rd Snack8:00 - Light Snack ( anything FRESH under 50 calories )You will learn that the key to this eating schedule is lots and lots of water. It's free calories and it helps you feel full. It's hard coming down from a high caloric diet to eating healthy. Water is your best friend. If you feel hungry drink 8 ounces or more of water and the feeling will subside.⦠MODERATION! Quit eating till you hate yourself. There is a fine line between eating until you are full and eating until you hate your self. Eating healthy is ALL about portions and moderation! Eat slower, enjoy the food, and wait 20 minutes. It takes your body around 20 minutes to realize it's full. If you feel like going back for seconds, wait 20 minutes and I am sure you wont. Take your hand and make a fist. You see that? That is considered a portion of 1 type of food. You should NEVER have more than 3 fists on your plate at a time. Small huh? It sucks have to ration out your food this way, but the results are awesome! ⦠Start eating protein. Lots of it. Chicken or fish as your main dishes. High protein means you are left feeling fuller for longer. They also don't yield as many calories as pork, beef, or lamb. There are plenty of yummy good for you recipes out there to cook them. PM if you want any. I have a TON!⦠Try to cook your veggies as little as possible. They hold the most nutrient value raw. Cooking them robs them of a lot of their nutrient value.⦠FRUIT. Don't eat any fruit or other natural sugars after 2pm. The majority of it gets stored and goes to your booty! haha.⦠Replace ALL cooking with butter with Extra Virgin Olive Oil & light salt. It's not butter but it sure is tasty! (it also tastes so good after eating healthy that it almost feels like cheating!}⦠Paleo Diet. I have a ton of friends that are on it and LOVE it and are LOSING weight. If you are anything like me you freaking hate exercise. Stay far far away from this diet if you don't plan on exercising. (just a tip I learned the hard way)⦠Now that we know I hate exercise lets talk about what to do! I don't do much and am not very educated on it but I will tell you what works. If you are sedentary for the day like me (I sit behind a desk for 8+ hours a day), any exercise outside of that is helpful. I walk/jog for about 45 minutes every other day, and always volunteer for running out back, up to the loft, etc. If you don't exercise, plan on about a 1,100 calorie diet a day to loose weight.⦠A HUGE THING TO REMEMBER ABOUT EXERCISE. It doesn't matter how slow or fast your walk/jog you are still lapping everybody on the couch.I'm sorry for the book, but I really hope you read it. All these things have greatly helped me, and if you adhere to them they will provide you great results! Getting skinny and living a healthy lifestyle is 90% diet! Remember that every time you have a craving! Nothing tastes as good as being healthy and fit feels!

Thanks tronic!I've seen many free books about the Paleo diet but never read any. I'll look into it. My favorite thing right now is lemon water..as cold as I can get it. I have a jug of green tea in the fridge now. I think I shouldn't have added any sugar to it and just add some honey when I fix a cup.:D

You can do it Mari! and yes, adding either Lime, lemon or cucumber to your water will make it A WHOLE LOT MORE INTERESTING. I'm currently 196 lbs and it's the heaviest I've ever been. Two years (ish) ago I was 140 and it's something I'm striving towards.I'm currently on the Harcombe (sp) diet. Basically, excercise and LOTS of vegetables! Butternut Squash is a god on this diet, curries, soups (I have to force myself to eat it... it's far too sweet, lol.. but hey, no pain, no gain!)Also, change any rices, pastas etc to wholemeal. It's really not that much of a distance! No treats, and LOTS of water. You're going to do fabulously! We've all got your back darling!
