+100lbs to go...

Hi all, Mary here. I've been trying to eat right but can't do that when I'm constantly eating and want something quick. (freezer meals!)




I haven't started exercising yet due to having NO energy and being sick. Almost over being sick (sinuses/sorethroat/runnynose)




Taking Iron pills helps me get my energy back so I'm hoping the one I just took will kick in today so I can get the house in better order that it is.





I hate to post my weight because I'm probably the heaviest person on HP :(




I don't want to hit the big 300 and yet I'm so close to that fine line that I'm almost in tears when I weigh. A lot of you know me and digital drawing is a passion of mine. Yet it keeps me in front of the computer for way too long. Lately I have been giving myself a time limit on how long I can be on the computer. It's helped greatly but when I'm not on here, I'm asleep. *cringes*




Nope, I'm jobless right now and should be taking advantage of that fact.



Just got back from taking a road trip with my fiance (trucker) and the way we ate is insane. Even though most of it was Subway sandwiches. We had our rough days eating cold Ravioli. YUCK! So now that I'm back home, I went shopping with my mother to pick out and bring home healthier foods. So far I've done very well. My favorite thing now is Rye bread, a type of lettuce/green, slice of chicken (Tysons), Tomatoes, and some mustard (sandwich). I have like one a day usually in the morning/lunch time.




Later on when I'm hungry, I'll fix a smoothie and that'll last me a few hours. Then for dinner, it's a salad. No food after that unless it's a cheese stick, nuts, fruit, or hot tea (mint..yum!)


And there you have it...me.

Thanks adeina! I haven't had anything white in awhile now...noodles, rice, bread. The only bread I really like to eat is that Rye bread but limit myself to two slices a day. That's one sandwich that's loaded with my green leafy lettuce of any type (except iceberg). Got me some lemons and limes :DI have a bag of frozen strawberries, one large bag of mango, pineapple, strawberries, another frozen bag of blue berries and raspberries all in my freezer. I use fresh bananas to add to my smoothies of almond milk or yogurt. Just got a new blender (came with a chopper too which is like a mini blender). This awesome new blender set is special because it has four blades, two blades on each level so that it blends EVERYTHING, not just what it can reach. Thanks Fred's (store) for having this awesome blender for $29 ^_^I also add ground flaxseed into my smoothies which I do try to substitute as either my breakfast or lunch. I get up late so it's usually just the first meal I grab for now. But no more sleeping late or as late as I have been lately (sleeping all day, up all night) grr :PSorry for the book! O_x

Yes! I'm happy to join in. :) I currently weigh 172! I've gained around 30 pounds in the past 3 years. I'm thinking about doing a cleanse for a few weeks just to start fresh and then go on a raw food diet. :) I'm already a vegetarian, but I find myself eating lots of carbs because they're always there. My goal is to lose around 25 pounds. I hate exercise though.

I feel like i don't really fit in but i am close to 150 and i need to be about 130 ish so i can fit in my wedding dress. I work at a car wash so i get lots of exercise plus i take my lab on walks a few times a week but my problem is food. D: i try to eat lots of fruits but it doesnt out weigh the pterzels and pastas that i love. ):

Switching to whole grain pastas is a great option if you have to have pasta. :)

This thread is super timely for me - I decided last weekend to make this week a 'fresh start' with my nutrition and exercise!I don't have much to add to the advice already in here, but as yet another person who is not fond of exercise, I can recommend YouTube for fitness videos! I really hate running on a treadmill because for me it feels a bit pointless, but I like exercise videos because they're more engaging. Find a video or series lead by someone energetic that is also fun to do! I really love Tae Bo - Billy Blanks is super motivational imo, and the exercises are challenging but fun~Also, echoing what Tronic said about the Paleo Diet: I wouldn't recommend it as a 'starter' diet. The people who have the most success with it (in my experience, anyway) are those who are doing intense weight training, marathon training, etc. You have to watch your nutrition on it because it eliminates A LOT of things in favor of protein.Good luck to everyone - diet and exercise plans usually work better when you have a great support group! :D

oh Misa! That's basically when I started. :) I started with a cleanse...a real cleanse too lol Magnesium Citrate...grape flavored..Drank about a gallon of water before and during..omg it was worth it. Yes, everyone should start today! Because in a a few weeks from now, you'll have lost lbs or gotten healthier somehow. We all need to realize that thinking about it doesn't burn calories, but doing does! :D

I personally have the opposite problem. I can't gain a pound. But I have a friend who runs a wellness center. Health retreat and spa. He has helped hundreds of people maybe thousands who were so sick they were almost dead. Check out www.silverhills.ca I highly recommend even just talking to him by email or phone. I do no recommend cutting out carbs. That is very important. If you need a healthy diet plan ask for his help. His name is Phil Brewer. He is a very balanced individual.

I would personally space your meals and snack at least 3 hours from each other. Your stomach does not have enough time to empty and digest properly if it has food being added constantly. It ends up quitting digestion and starting over again and that slows things down. It can actually start food to rotting in the stomach before it is completely digested. This causes stomach aches and gas. It doesn't matter how healthy the food is, you must give your digestive system enough time to digest. You can still fit in 4 or 5 smaller meals with 3 hours between in a day. But your body does better on 3 good meals.

I'm so glad you're taking steps to make yourself healthier, Marixel (and everyone!) :). And it's really nice to have a support group for it, since it is so hard to do sometimes!Tronic made a lot of the points I would have on what people should be doing that is and isn't healthy for dieting and exercise. But also remember not to totally deprive yourself. You don't want to get so frustrated with your diet that you give up, binge, and lose progress. The Anti-Diet is more for slow weight loss and weight maintenance, but it has some good sections about sticking with a diet and also healthy things to substitute when you're craving not-so-healthy things. It's OKAY to eat a treat sometimes, as long as it's only sometimes it won't wreck your diet. Moderation is always the key.I'm also trying to lose weight. Over the last year I've gained 30 or 40 pounds (bad, I know). I quit exercising last summer because I got mono and wasn't allowed to exercise really much at all and then got way busy with school and just never got back into it, unfortunately for my waistline. Plus I LOVE food, so I used to just be able to pretty much eat whatever and be fine, but not exercising has killed me! Now that it's summer I'm planning on going to the barn more, geocaching/hiking more, and maybe using the gym at my new apartment when I can! Hopefully I can find a way to stick with it (because once you're out of a habit it's so hard to get back into it, haha). I probably weigh 160-170 lbs now, and I want to get back down to around 130.I should also try to eat less and eat healthier, which for me is the absolute hardest part of dieting. But I just need to stick with it, haha. Which is hard.

My Aunt and I just had a long long talk about me and my health problems. Depression has a lot to do with me getting up and doing something about it. After many tears shed, I've agreed to go get help and get a full physical. Anyone else dealing with depression due to their weight? :(One day I'll feel so active and outgoing, the next I want to be a hermit.

I give my art away free sometimes...ok..a lot. I make money only to do nothing with it. I very rarely buy graphics because I make my own. Sometimes I wonder about my sanity lol But don't we all?

I wonder if we should do a HP buddy system on here to try to lose weight?

Two HP players exchange daily information on what they've eaten each day and what exercises. You can take the choice of exchanging it over emails or even phone calls. I would do it. A buddy system.

This person should be there for you and support you and the same the other way around.

Each time you do something bad, I guess you'd have to train the other player's animals for the week? lol I don't know..just rambling tonight since I can't sleep and it's 3:30AM for me. Spending the night at my aunt's and my mom is here too (visiting from Alaska).

I did very well today with my eating and did some exercises! whoohoo! Taking those iron pills every other day gives me a butt ton of energy O_o

Breakfast I had crunchy raisin bran with added pumpkin granola (flaxseedtoo) mixed in with it and used almond milk. Lunch I had (late lunch) rye bread with a thin layer of mayo (it's dry otherwise and I KNOW I should have used mustard instead) and two slices of Tyson chicken sandwich meat. Layered it with leafy greens for crunch and goodness. Dinner was non existent since I spent those hours listening and talking with my aunt & mom about everything under the sun (on the front porch enjoying the sunset). But had greek yogurt (pineapple/mango), sunflower seeds (dill), and one cheese stick...tons of water throughout the day too.

How did everyone else do?

Anyways, I'll be in chat for a few and then off to bed to try and get a few hours of sleep before waking up early to do some yard work. There's plenty to do here at my Aunt Sal's place.

I also battle depression. But it keeps me from eating properly as in little to no food some days. I just basically kick my butt to get going again though lol. But for some people its a lot harder to deal with. By the way your meals look pretty healthy to me. Don't worry about food too much though. That doesn't really help. As long as its healthy and balanced. You can have really good food like gourmet in vegetarian, vegan, and with meat that is very healthy. I just bought a cookbook from that Silver Hills place I talked about. It is delicious vegan food. I am not completely vegan, but I am vegetarian, so I do use dairy in some of the recipes if I can't get the vegan stuff around here.

I used to be 218 lbs, but then I started following the RAF six week fitness program and I lost 6 lbs in the first week. Most of that is because I've stopped eating chocolate and stuff every night and almost tripled the amount of water I drink and cut out all of the soda. I downloaded an app on my phone called Noom, which gets you to log your food for the day and the amount of exercise you've done. It gives you helpful tips, too. Things about different diets and information about them as well as counting the amount of steps you've done. I'm not sure if it's available outside of the UK and I know it's only for android users at the minute, but apps like that really do help you keep a track of things, without having to count calories etc yourself.One thing you have to remember though is that you must never feel bad for anything you eat, and don't deny yourself sweet food if you want it. Most of the time it's your body telling yourself that you need sugar, but there are alternatives that give your body the same amount of sugar as chocolate and candy do that aren't as fattening. But if a chocolate bar or whatever is something you're really craving at that point, then get one, otherwise you'll begin to fog eat (where you eat everything you can see, and know you're doing it but you can't stop) and that's the worst thing you can do when you're on a diet.Another thing, always eat something before and after you work out, this way you get the energy from what you've just eaten to help you get up and move, and the energy from what you've ate afterwards to go towards aiding your muscles etc. in 'healing' after the work out. Even low-fat chocolate milk helps a lot after exercise. There's a lot of articles on Google that give you advice on what to eat. If you're not employed at the minute, try to set aside a time where you can exercise - mix what you do up a bit too so you don't become bored of what you're doing - and try to keep to it as much as possible.Set yourself goals of losing a few lbs a fortnight or something, and then you'll subconsciously find it so much more rewarding.>Ah, I hope any of that helped. I wish all of you all the luck in the world in achieving your goals!edit: I never even realised how long this was when I posted it, I'm so sorry!Also, a lot of my weight gain was from depression originally and then food just became a comfort point, but I think all the work's going to be worth it when I get to my goal and hopefully feel better about myself.

I must say that i am like, obese. I dont care what people think about that, i actually feel great. I went from size 60 to size 50 which is like 10 sizes. I still have a road to go. But i got diagnosed with ADD, and suffered a lot of headaches and tiredness. Now i have Ritalin, and im dancing my way around in my world lmao xD

Im hardly ever depressed. I enjoy life and have a lot of fun and the best boyfriend ever. I have very good, loving, caring friends, and the sweetest dog you can imagine. I wouldnt trade my life for anyone elses. When im depressed its probably only because im thinking about my mom who passed away oct 2012....
