My Cockatiels Odie and Luna finally gave me some babies! Luna laid 3 eggs, two of which hatched. The babies are a week old tomorrow (Saturday)!

Here are some photos! The photo with the yellow fuzz is from today, and the white fuzz was taken yesterday.




They are suuuuper ugly, but they will get cuter in approximately 3-4 weeks time lol.

I weighed them today, and the white fuzz baby isn't gaining enough weight, and each time i've checked them, his/her crop has been empty. Healthy weight for their age is 6-12 grams, and while yellow fuzz weighs in at a healthy 10 grams, poor white fuzz only weighs 5, so he/she will be pulled tomorrow and hand fed.

Goodbye sleep. She seemed a little impacted last night so I gave her some warm coconut water to help her digestion, and she's digesting super quick now. Not TOO quick, but healthy quick.

On a usual schedule, the crop isn't empty at the time of each feed, so the baby gets a 5-6 hour rest during the night to give the crop time to empty out completely before the morning feed. Since i'm feeding her after each empty out, the 5-6 hour rest period doesn't apply, so i'll be up 2-3 times during the night to feed her when she's empty. It's going well already though!

I can't get over the fluffiness!!!! Love love love!

Teehee he (she, potentially!) looks like some sort of food stuffs. How is she doing??

Goodness sake! Ive never seen them this small before. Def a face only a mother could love haha. But he/she is much cuter than the first pic, but still pretty ugly lol.

She is doing well. She aspirated a little yesterday which caused a minor respiratory problem, but she seems to be doing much better this morning. When it arrives i'm going to give her some beta carotene to help her respiratory tract.

The unscheduled feeding seems to be doing her a world of good, so that's a big plus. She started flapping and stretching out her wings last night, that was super cute to watch!

I'm switching her formula tomorrow. I don't know anything about the one I have her on now, I got it because it was the only brand the pet store had, and I really don't think it's doing her any favours, so i'm going to a different store tomorrow to pick up a packet of Vetafarm formula, which i've been told by people that show and breed show quality Cockatiels, is the best in regards to quality and health benefits.

After ALL of this she'd better start gaining weight lol.

That has got to be the most hilarious, most ugly thing I've seen all day. bahaha!!!!

Just got back from the feed store with her new formula and gave her some. It smells 100% better than the old formula lol. Fingers crossed this helps her!

Also.. I let her empty out completely for 6 hours before I fed her the new formula, so I got to sleep for 5 STRAIGHT HOURS omg.

Those things are almost frightening looking. LMFAO

Her little face feathers are getting longer, and she can move her tiny crest up and down!
