My Cockatiels Odie and Luna finally gave me some babies! Luna laid 3 eggs, two of which hatched. The babies are a week old tomorrow (Saturday)!

Here are some photos! The photo with the yellow fuzz is from today, and the white fuzz was taken yesterday.




They are suuuuper ugly, but they will get cuter in approximately 3-4 weeks time lol.

I weighed them today, and the white fuzz baby isn't gaining enough weight, and each time i've checked them, his/her crop has been empty. Healthy weight for their age is 6-12 grams, and while yellow fuzz weighs in at a healthy 10 grams, poor white fuzz only weighs 5, so he/she will be pulled tomorrow and hand fed.

Since putting her on the better formula she's gained 6-7 grams, but she's kind of stuck at 30-31 now. But I am only just getting to thickening the fornula to the correct thickness for her (the pack says when switching to it, start off very thin to get the tiny body used to it), and she's also sick with this respiratory thing so that won't be helping her either. Her beta-carotene will arrive today so i'll be able to start treating the respiratory problem and fingers crossed we go up from here.

I'm at the point where I have to throroughly clean her face after feeds because if I don't, her little face feathers will get caked with formula. lol.

She is precious! And I love the name Zoe. :) I named my first mare Zoe!

She's slowly getting there!
I've changed her feeding plan yet again. Feeding less & more often wasn't working, so now i'm stuffing her as full as I can get her every 4 hours between 6am and 10pm and letting her empty out over night. So far so good. She's gone from 32grams to 38 grams and kept it all on, which doesn't sound like much but is a huge achievement for her. She'll crack 40 grams today, and i'm aiming to have her at 50 by the end of the weekend, and the next short term goal is 80 by next weekend.

Finally we're getting somewhere!

Her final weigh in for tonight is 51 grams!! Huge progress for her :D

So most of my bird people thought she was going to be a lutino, but now that she's feathering out it's apparent that she is not lutino, rather cinnamon pied. Meaning she could be either male or female LOL. But I still think she's a she because of what a sassy pants she is :P

OMG!  She's so ugly!  I LOVE HER! ♥♥♥  I can't wait to see how she looks when she if fully feathered!

Her head is almost fully covered with little yellow pin feathers now so i'll get a photo of that in a couple days. Her tailfeathers are growing longer and her back is finally almost covered with feathers instead of pins lmao. Almost all of her yellow fuzz is gone, too.

I'm dropping her down to 4 feeds a day starting tomorrow, and offering her more millet :D

Omg I know. Once she started putting on some good weight, she's grown SO much faster. Growth spurt much? lol.

She's starting to refuse formula, which means she's preparing for her first flight. Most babies fledge around 4-5 weeks and she turns 5 weeks tomorrow. This is both exciting and terrifying.
