Thought I would start an offical thread for this baby because I know I'm gonna be posting WAYYYY to many photos of him, haha. So here is an introduction and then, as promised, a bunch of photos!

We were unsure of how Jackson would do in turn out. Where he was was a strict show barn, so not all of the horses are turned out, like in a "completely" free way. They are usually supervised in smaller arenas or worked in the round without a line so they can buck and run and stuff kinda with supervision. He had been turned out before on his own, but not in that big of an area. He did make me a bit nervous. He runs really close to rails and then ran at full speed towards one of the corners and slide to a stop and banged his knee on the rail. he calmed down and figured out where he could safely put his legs and calmed down pretty quick after that. Made me nervous, haha. He hasn't hit any rails or done anything risky since. That's why he's all booted up, just to be safe, haha.

 I gave little Jackson a bath last week and then made my friend hold him for photos, haha. I'm so obsessed with this horse. 

He needs to be in magazines. :D

A few of him in the round. He's so silly. This day he literally jogged out of his pen and up to the round pen (the entire length of the propery basically, like 20 acres) and then when I put him in the round and asked him to trot, he didn't wanna go! He got rid of all his energy on his little jog up. :p

And finally, this is my new favorite photo of him. I wish his mane would get like an inch and a half longer so it would go past his neck enough to be seen from the other side. :p He's close! I'm taking better care of his mane than his previous home (not that they were bad, he just wasn't showing so it wasn't always braided up and stuff) and it will grow a bit.

He's soo handsome! Love his dapples! :D

Had a lesson yesterday that went super well. Trainer is schooling him today.
Getting to the show grounds at 6am and then I have a paid warm-up to get him used to the arena and banners and such, not that it should be a problem.
My class is the Rookie and it is before the lunch break, so I should be done before noon, which would be record time for a horse show for me because I was used to being in Non Pro as the second to last class of the day with Freddy haha.

Today is bath day!

We survived our show! A lot to work on, but we made it!
Placed dead last of the people who scored in the Rookie (I think we got like 12th/19 over all, a lot of no scores). Jackson apparently needs to be loped down a lot more than we thought and there was an incident of scary people sitting in scary chairs in a scary corner -huge eye roll- that had to be dealt with. But! We stayed on pattern and got a score!

I went in open and loped veryyyyyy slowly through the pattern, just to let us have a nice calm experience in the ring. We went so slow at the end of my first large fast I couldn't remember if I had done one or two XD. We got a much better score. I am not sure how we placed, we were up against trainers (obvi, as it was the open) so I doubt very well, but I think we did awesome.

Learned a lot about what my little man needs before a show:
More loped down! Haha. Get him slightly tired before his class so chairs are not terrifying
Super slow cues on spins as in training he is usually a lazy spinner but in the ring he got very reactive and then overreacted when I did my normal cue
School him on his right lead before going into a class as that is his hard lead and he gets wiggly in the class and needs a super obvious dramatic cue to get it without being nervous.

Overall all, for having the horse less than a year, with basically a winter off, having not shown for three years for me, and a year for him, we did alright. We'll do better next show.

Apparently we placed 2nd in the buckle class in the Limited Open, so that is the class we will show the rest of the year. (Sorry, I chase buckles. Judge me. ;))

I will do my best for photos. But I am super self conscious about how I look, so no mean comments, promise?

Side note: Getting a kick out of beating Dallas Wedel as he is a.) an egotisical....word I can't say on this website, and b.) he is the new trainer at the place Mark Arballo used to train at. If anyone knows, Mark Arballo is the trainer who killed Bella Gennabe Gifted and it was a big case. Mark is now banned from the NRHA and from training horses in California, but now he traines AQHA in Texas. Just a heads up if anyone hears his name, he is bad news. Anyway, Martha Torkinton is the owner of that ranch and the one who hired both Mark Arballo and Dallas Wedel. She claims she had no idea her horses were being abused, and yet they all had visible marks on them and in the past three months, Dallas Wedel has had the Humane Society called on him twice for his treatment of his horses. I am not 100% sure why exactly. But he's a jerk. And egotistical. And was very upset that the winner of my open class was Rosyln Proffer, who is an AMAZING Paint trainer and basically one of the most serious, but also sweetest, human in the world. Love her. :) Sorry, just needed to vent some good old NRHA drama. 
The important thing is...Jackson beat him...twice...in one class. ;)
